This is crazy!
I put out a video offering up a promotional video for any “sponsor” willing to pay for tickets to Game 7.
No takers (not much advance notice).
Then I decide to sponsor it myself and bought a ticket (not cheap).
I booked a flight that took off at 5:55 pm and got to Toronto at 7:30 (which would get me to Rogers Centre by 8:30 (likely miss an inning).
I had one hour to shower, pack, Uber to LGA, clear security and get to the gate. It would be tight.
Hit some traffic but made good time to LGA and the airport was empty.
Then the delays started. My 5:55 pm departure became 7, then 8, then 8:30 and we finally pushed off the gate at 8:45 only to sit on the tarmac for one more “30 min” delay.
Now there’s no way I’ll make any of the game.
So I opened my Ticketmaster app and listed the ticket for re-sale on StubHub. They recommended a list price of half what I paid for the ticket.
I was born at night but it wasn’t last night so, with an understanding of supply and demand, I listed the ticket at $1,500 more than what I paid.
Just as the captain announced the last delay as I’m watching the game on the plane, my phone buzzes.
Someone bought my ticket and, with services fees, I did a little better than break even.
Now that’s what I call turning lemons into LUMAcello!
OMG - great catch by Vladdy to limit a threatening bases-loaded, one-out situation to a single run. Jays still lead 3-1. Let’s go!
Now we’re taking off and I look forward to seeing friends at Hemmingway’s to watch the end of the game and the big World Series win!
And wait till you see the video!
Go Blue Jays!
Go Canada!
(elbows up)

my favorite World of DaaS episode ever just dropped: with Peter Thiel
I promise you that you will not be able to learn more in an hour (or 30 min if you do it at 2x).
we get DEEP on investing, scientific stagnation, AI, culture, tech start-ups, and more.
Peter has been a friend, boss, and mentor for over 20 years. He was the first investor in LiveRamp and is an investor in SafeGraph. And prior to LiveRamp, I worked for him for 3 years.
Here are some snippets of my favorite parts of the conversation:
* Are we overrating LLMs? How does it compare to other breakthrough technologies like the Internet?
* Over the last 25 years, there have been 17 $100bn companies - all in the US and China. Why hasn’t Europe broken through?
* Being the reserve currency in the world may unintuitively lead to the U.S. demise?
* Software has been a gravity for global talent and resources - is that the cause of a lack of progress of atoms or is it something else?
* We cover a lot more In a wide ranging conversation spanning public policy, venture capital, and AI.

The ad experience on @Sling is actually really good. Probably one of the better ones.
I am watching a show and the ad variety is good, quality of advertisers is high and I have yet to see the same ad in 30 min.
Tbh- I give it 9/10 ⭐️
Who do they use as their primary adserver?

@pmddomingos I might amend this statement to the amount of intelligence available/accessible is increasing at the fastest rate. Willingness to absorb it is another story altogether.

@pmddomingos A lot of underlying variables here, @pmddomingos. Some of which may be solved by bringing employees back to the office. How do we encourage businesses to do it?

@profgalloway @POTUS Great post, but the persistent question remains… how confident are we in the math supporting this statement?

No billionaire should pay less in taxes than a school teacher or a firefighter.
