@MAGHwrites Authors? Plural? Wtf. Why would people do this? To gain followers? I’m confused. Are they trying to impress you something or is it some catfish scheme?

When authors tell me they have an offer of representation, my tendency is to believe them. It's frustrating to find that trust taken advantage of.

What would you look for first?

@rrreadsbooks Thank you Renee, and it makes total sense. As a writer it’s hard not to obsess over the perfect pitch in a query when there may be no such thing. I do think a lot of it is what you mentioned.

@jbsafariauthor If I read the query and know I’m not at all interested in the subject material, or if something is submitted that I don’t represent, or is on my “do not send me” list, I don’t read the sample pages. I do read at least a few sample pages the vast majority of the time

I received over 800 queries in five days and am now closed to queries until I go through all of them. I've read 100 already!
