Re: Scott Pelley/ @CBS--I've been on staff at magazines when an editor you like is replaced by an outsider you distrust. I've never thrown a fit like Pelley did. That's just not what you do. You make the new person feel at home and then stab them in the back as soon as you can.

1. The Gather and the Launch To initiate a legal jump-stop, the player must gather the ball (control it with two hands or let it come to rest in one hand) while progressing. They must jump off one foot. If a player leaves the floor off both feet to jump-stop, it is an automatic traveling violation.

When we launched the ARK Venture Fund in September 2022, our goal was clear: democratize access to venture capital and many of the most important innovation platforms evolving today. Today, the ARK Venture Fund has surpassed $1 billion in assets under management. What stands out to us most is the acceleration in adoption. It took just over two years to reach our first $100 million. The next $900 million followed in roughly 18 months, with the last $500 million coming in only about five months. In our view, investors increasingly understand that many of the most transformative companies in the world are staying private longer. Public markets alone no longer provide full exposure to disruptive innovation. Through the ARK Venture Fund, investors can access companies we believe are shaping the future, including SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic, Figure AI, Epic Games, and others, at a minimum investment accessible to a much broader audience. This milestone feels less like a finish line and more like confirmation that innovation is becoming the new asset class. To our shareholders, advisors, and partners: thank you for your trust and conviction. We believe we are still in the early stages of one of the most profound technological transformations in history. The ARK Venture Fund crossed $1 billion in AUM. For decades, access to private innovation was locked behind accredited investor rules and seven-figure minimums. We built the ARK Venture Fund to change that. A billion dollars later, investors agreed. Learn more at ark-ventures.com.

THEO VON: “Was there anybody who was immune to COVID-19?” DR. MCCULLOUGH: “There’s one adult group. You’re going to laugh.” [Theo Von listens closely for the reveal] DR. MCCULLOUGH: “Smokers… They got very mild cases. And they don’t get long COVID.” THEO VON: “Why?” MCCULLOUGH: “Because smokers maintain a level of nicotine in the bloodstream… Smoking blocks the spike protein. It’s amazing. I thought smokers were going to go down.” THEO VON: “Do you think that’s a good idea [to use nicotine patches] on a regular basis?” DR. MCCULLOUGH: “I think [it’s a good idea] if they have long COVID... Nicotine, don’t forget, is a nootropic. A nootropic is a drug that makes the brain function more effectively... It’s addictive, but it’s not harmful to the human body... Nicotine patches are perfectly safe.”

@esaagar @esaagar is an ageist. He frames every policy of as if age were the defining category of importance. He purposefully ignores other more relevant factors like wealth, region, and education. Worst of all his tone of the same tone of racists.

Wearable culture is a direct backlash to watching elderly people with varicose veins, diabetes, and being so fat/weak they can't pick up their own grandkids while facing the risk of death from a slight fall If wanting to be a healthy grandfather makes me cringe then so be it
The Free Press@TheFP

Have a glass. Get some sleep. Stop tracking yourself. The millennial fixation with wearable devices and health optimization is pointless quackery. thefp.com/p/health-obses…

@theallinpod @bgurley What people forget when analyzing the impact of new technology, including AI, is the competition effect. So you find you can do more with less, but your competitor is doing even more, so you must do more. Technology changes don't happen in a vacuum.

This United States made an estimated $186 billion of improper payments last year, while borrowing nearly 10x that -- $1.8 trillion. I'm happy the Vice President is focused on fighting fraud .. we shouldn't be wasting scarce federal dollars. But this won't balance the budget.

Stephen Miller: "Based on what I've heard, we could balance the federal budget if the only dollars that went out of the treasury went to individuals who were properly, lawfully, correctly eligible to receive them"

@esaagar Breaking: seniors have *access to* retirement savings. This will come as welcome news to those seniors who thought they had know retirement savings. And, more good news, it's been compounding for decades.

One of the most destructive myths in politics: Seniors have the opposite of a fixed income. They get inflation adjusted tax free income, subsidized healthcare, and access to retirement savings that if used properly should have compounded over decades
Let’s Put It To a Vote@Xvotesays

@esaagar By the time I’m 65 I’ll have paid property tax for 40 years. Absolutely f’n right to stop the madness. Old people have n a fixed income have already paid enough!
