My question for Onsi Saleh yesterday on evaluating the team post-playoffs:
Q: "When you try to figure out what this team is and what it might be, and you have all the evidence from an 82-game season versus what happened in six games on an elevated stage, how do you weigh all the factors in trying to analyze and process what you have and what you need?"
Saleh: "I think it's because of such a short time, it's a little trickier, but there was a big enough sample there to understand the archetypes we need, the archetypes we have, and what our guys need to work on.
The regular season is just different from the playoffs. It's just a different game. It really is. Everybody sees the physicality. Everything is ... you're working in shorter spaces. You see scoring drop off pretty remarkably, so it's (about) figuring that stuff out.
But our guys, this is their first time going through it. And I thought they did a pretty good job of adapting, and then we hit some adversity during that (latter) part of the series, and it turned, but I think, again, that experience is going to help these guys work in their asses off this summer, and I'm just confident in them to get better."
Now that we’ve had a little time to let that loss sink in, do you still believe in the long-term vision for the Hawks? I do. And I’ll tell you why.

Onsi Saleh, in response to @ZachKleinWSB asking about Quin Snyder:
“He has been an unbelievable partner in all of this, and it has been so nice, just having a partner who you're so aligned with. It makes it easy. I understand the types of players that work for him and understand the types of guys that make sense for us as an organization, and we always have healthy dialogue. We talk every day. He's unbelievable.”
@CThomasRadio All day today, I’ve been avoiding sports news and social media trolling the Hawks…seeing Owners/FO, somehow, express the outrage the fans feel, might help…
Does Quin Snyder deserve to be FIRED after a historic 51-point playoff loss?
"I don't know how you defend what he did over the last 3 games... you can't fire the whole team, but you can fire the coach... aside from that run where they went 20–5 late in the season, Quin Snyder has not paid dividends... someone's got to pay the price." - @CelliniNick#TrueToAtlanta@chrisdimino
Signing out for the 25-26 season ✌️
Lots of ups, lots of downs, plenty to learn but plenty of progress. My first season as credentialed media for the Atlanta Hawks was a huge success.
I’m 21 years old and living out my biggest dreams. I’ll never take this, and you all, for granted ❤️
Onto the offseason, where we’ll have plenty to cover… buckle up!
Two things can be true:
The Hawks will be embarrassed about what happened tonight.
The Hawks also played the best basketball of just about anyone else in the league over the last eight weeks of the regular season.
@BTRowland@jcallins Definitely don’t need someone who’s played at this level but you have to wonder if Quin’s quiet demeanor and nonchalant attitude didn’t translate to the exact product you saw tonight. The question at least has to be raised
For reference...
The worst playoff loss in Hawks history (at least since moving to Atlanta) was 114-71 to the Magic in Game 1 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The worst home loss was also in that series by a 105-75 margin in Game 3.
@jcallins@RyanAkin21 playing in the league is not a requirement of being a great head coach
a lot of the best ones aren’t former nba players
(also Quin was a high-level player)
@BTRowland Does Onsi consider firing Quin after this? I get what your initial reaction will be but is it actually an overreaction when you’re losing by 50 before halftime of an elimination game? What else could be a worse indictment on the job a coach is capable of?
This is the kind of performance that makes you forget everything this group has built since the beginning of March.
They're still in an objectively great spot as an organization, but this game has been that bad.
Everyone needs to try their best to remember how young most of these guys are, myself included.
