The concept of Ernest Hemingway saying “men are dying this year who have never died before” in 1930 there are truly no new emotions under the sun
B@brigpirr

@jcii_2 @ptriiichor He wrote it in 1930 in a letter to his friend Henry Strater apparently.

Found an AI perspective I’d never heard before from a teacher of teens. It’s a bit meandering but your three minutes will be well used.

I was at a bar alone yesterday when the bartender said, “Hey, check this message from my sister.” He showed me his phone and it read, “Under no circumstances should you get into a conversation with the guy sitting on your right.” Men, if you’re ever in a position to do something like this, please do it.

I assume you asked genuinely, so I’ll answer genuinely. I live in the country, but I’m certainly part of the demographic that you might see as “boring” like this. Here’s my Friday: I wake to the shouts and giggles of two little boys. Get some hugs and some coffee, now it’s time to make money. At about 1pm my sons busted into my office and asked me if I’d take them to play golf. I said yes because I’ve built a life in which I can. When we get home, I finish work. Later, we have dinner as a family (chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes, it was 🔥). My sons ranked their days on a scale from 1-10 like we do and they said today was a “10.” Whatever high yall city folk get from “going out,” I got it from that. Then I played basketball with my sons. We watched a little TV on the couch together. Now it’s bath time, bed time, Bible and prayers. As my oldest closed his eyes, he told me how he makes his friends pray before they eat lunch. I felt that “high” again. Kids are asleep. So now it’s time for mom and dad to do some fun things that married people do. This is my Friday night. And I’ll be absolutely WIPED by 10pm - it was a full day. And while it might sound insane to you right now, I wouldn’t trade places with any person on Earth. I have what men search for all their lives; what men would sacrifice everything to have. Some have lost it chasing the things you’re suggesting I’m missing out on. I mean this with all the love in the world. I’m not defensive. But I know with certainty, what you find rewarding will change the instant you are holding your first child in your arms. And I’m so excited for you to experience it one day. Good luck out there. Sincerely, A boring dad

How do people in the suburbs genuinely look forward to Friday night on the couch, Saturday morning at Costco, and call that a weekend? Like you really moved out of the city just to LARP as your parents at 34?

I believed in God my entire childhood because I never found enough evidence to disprove what my parents taught me. (I was actually into apologetics as a kid so this sentence does make sense lol) Then at 10, I was hit by a car and should have died. I was healed miraculously in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. That affirmed for the rest of my life God was real. I tried my best to live like it, I tried to prove to God I loved Him, but the older I got, the more I felt like the gap between me and Him widened. Then at age 17, I was praying alone and reading my Bible when in the quiet of the room I heard, "Sierra, I love you." (Sierra is my real name) Suddenly everything clicked. God loved me. His love was not something I could or was expected to earn. It's not something that grew with my obedience or shrunk with my disobedience. It was a constant, a truth more real than my existence. God loves me. Me. That's when I went from believing God was real to knowing who He was.

Do people believe in God because they found evidence, or because they were taught to believe as children?

The part most of us miss Jesus didn’t wait for Peter to forgive himself. He restored him while the memory was still fresh. God doesn’t only use the version of you before failure. Sometimes the calling actually begins after the moment you thought disqualified you.

Do you know what’s fascinating about the life of Jesus as recorded in the Holy Bible? Even without the messianic title (assume that you can set aside his divinity for a moment I mean), the human, non-religious persona of Jesus Christ would still be one of greatest, most progressive humans to ever live. It’s 2026 and no one could point to any of his acts/teachings that would violate today’s most progressive codes. For a man who lived 2000 years ago, in the darkest ages, isn’t that incredible? Read through his teachings, with his words, he simplified the complexity of human existence through the teachings of tolerance, love and kindness towards others. His teachings about the purity and honesty of Children as what makes them the best of humans, and how we should aspire to be like them. How we shouldn’t force our message on others, that once they say NO, just walk away. Thats consent. Never preached nor encouraged violence. Gender equality, alms giving and respect for constituted authority. He taught it all… Two Thousand and Twenty Six years ago.

There is literally a reason why every religious book acknowledges Jesus. While Jesus only acknowledged Himself😂 THE BIGGEST✝️
