To illustrate just how difficult a road lies ahead for the Timberwolves, I looked at every NBA champion since the 1996-97 season and calculated the average Net Rating of their four playoff opponents. If the Wolves have to go through DEN -> SAS -> OKC -> DET/BOS, it would easily be the hardest path to a title in the tracking era at +8.28 average opponent net rating. Current hardest path was the 1996-97 Bulls run: Bullets (+1.5) -> Hawks (+6.2) -> Heat (+6.2) -> Jazz (+9.8) Who said it would be easy?
