Plex has announced a price increase for new Lifetime Plex Pass subscriptions. Starting July 1, 2026, the one-time cost will rise from $249.99 to $749.99. Existing lifetime subscribers will be grandfathered in with no changes to their accounts or benefits. Monthly and annual Plex Pass subscriptions remain unchanged. The company states the adjustment supports the platform's ongoing value and long-term development. Current users can still buy at the old price until the effective date.

some dick head on here called me a cunt (a bit strong worded I think but lol) for saying that I highly doubt anyone is 'testing' (or even approving on a per update basis) antivirus definition files for a low side network. (low classification network) Look at how many definition updates Windows Defender gets each day! Now look I don't know everything in the world by any stretch but I've been doing this game for over 20 years and one or two people use me as an advisor... Many moons ago I was in a [redacted] meeting and we literally discussed how we handle these type of changes and they got put down as routine (it doesn't need a CR) we also said there's no practical way to test these and that we almost certainly had a better security outcome by not delaying these and accepting the small level of risk. I imagine lots of people in the world have no idea these updates even occur because they are practically invisible. We also have the fact these days modern protections also use could based APIs to compare file hashes etc. This isn't the 90s anymore....
