Not necessarily related but: Ahsoka S1 is a great example of someone trying to take an established character - several, actually - and take them somewhere new, and then everyone starts freaking out because they're "not the same". Are you the same person you were 20 years ago?

This is such a bummer. It’s exactly what I’ve been talking about with current studios seeing shows as pure commodity. Networks and studios used to let a show grow and build and breathe. There were financial considerations too, but now the numbers are the only thing that matters.

This is the adjustment they're going to make. And if the consolidation of the major media corps is allowed, its only going to get worse. My only hope is that there will be a massive influx of creators working with indies and thats how we shift it back in our favor.

All this to say, we, and I use that term generously, are reaping what we have sown. We're about to get less for our money. And its all cause we can't shut the fuck up. Streaming is already essentially a sunk cost. Add to that the constant controversies, it becomes not worth it.

I'm gonna speculate wildly, walk with me. From Guest's post it sounds to me like Marvel greenlit Wonderman and then Disney pulled the plug. This is following a trend of not only being more willing to sideline Black led projects, but more generally of moving away from TV.

And they are canceling passion projects. Disconnecting the connected universe. Not even following their own plans. Yes I believe at least some of it is Disney's corporate influence. But in any case, what's the incentive to even do a Marvel production nowadays?

I mean no one is gonna wanna keep working with Marvel atp. They don't protect their actors and showrunners from bigotry. They don't keep you working. They don't make the projects they say they are. There's a long, growing list of people dicked around by them.
