Are Chicago fans trying to diss me? After beating them in 90% of the games I played against them? They win 1 playoff game in 10 years (by luck) and think they are top dogs now? What a weak fan base.

Sydney FC can confirm that Head Coach Ufuk Talay and the club have agreed a mutual termination of his contract. He will depart with immediate effect, concluding his tenure after nearly two and a half years in charge. We would like to thank Ufuk for his contributions at the club as both a player and recently as a Head Coach. Full details 👉 bit.ly/4lPWzuk

Looking forward to watching the new BBC special “Selling Sheffield Wednesday”. It tells the story of the clubs fight for survival over the last 12 months. One of England’s most famous clubs, I for one really hope they get sorted. 💙🤍

After a guy we poached from the worst team in the league who turned us into the worst team in the league, and handed over interim duties to a guy who retired 15 years ago, Talay isn't inspiring but hopefully can get the team back in the top 6 at least.

The Adrian Segecic news is an undoubted blow to the depth of the @Socceroos. Croatian FA have been trying to woo him for some time and he’s decided to make the switch. There’s no sign of a fall out with Tony Popovic or his staff. It’s long been considered odd that he hasn’t played for Australia yet considering his Portsmouth form but Poppa is renowned for not playing youngsters in their first squad call up. He was called up in Sept but didn’t play, left out in Oct (this may be the missed opportunity) and then injured in November. He wouldn’t have been tied to Australia through these games however as they were friendlies. He’s now decided to move rather than win over the Australian boss. His call is risky though. Despite their keenness the Croatian squad will be very hard to crack. For this World Cup and the future. Still, once he steps on the pitch for Croatia in any non-friendly game, he’s tied to them. He’s the kind of talent Australia can ill-afford to lose but if the heart isn’t with Australia then it’s fair to suggest the overall output with the national team may not have been at the required level.

I’m convinced if Wemby score scored 83 points in the same exact fashion, y’all would be praising him. But because bam isn’t known for scoring, you guys are just hating on him.

BREAKING: NRL puts coaches on notice after round one. Here is the note they were sent: Coaches, the following points were reviewed by all Match Officials.   Disrupters  - The intent of this law is to provide a more competitive kick contest.       •    A player must make a genuine attempt to catch or legally bat back the ball.     •    If a player does not genuinely contest the ball, but instead jumps in the air to bat the ball back with one hand, and in doing so interferes with an opponent’s chance to catch the ball, the referee or Bunker may rule obstruction and award a penalty.   Rucks  - The referees have reviewed several slow rucks in R1 that, upon reflection, should have been a penalty or Set Restart depending on field position. You can expect a high focus in this area.   Contact on kickers – The referee will penalise contact on the kicker if deemed late, high, or dangerous.   Contact after the pass – I understand the need to apply pressure on the halves; however, there were several incidents in R1 where a half was contacted (late) after he had passed the ball and should have been penalised, but weren’t. This will be a focus area.   Roll Balls – A general reminder that all players are required to make a “genuine attempt” to play the ball back with their foot.   Baulking – If you baulk when feeding the scrum, trying to catch the opposition offside. You will be asked to feed the scrum again correctly. If you continue to do this, it may be seen as a repeated cynical act and be penalised or Sin Binned, depending on the circumstances.   Not clearing the ruck – The referees reviewed defenders who did not clear the PTB area at the completion of the tackle, which wasn’t actioned and should have resulted in a Set Restart.   Collisions, Takeouts, and Escorts– Across R1, there were several examples of players coming together in kick transition. These included escorting near the drop zone. You can’t take up a position, then move or shoulder towards someone competing for the ball. The collisions and takeouts occurred some distance from the drop zone. In some cases, it was the defender's fault; in others, it was the player chasing the kick. Regardless of how far away this occurs from the drop zone, you risk being penalised.   Captain and player communication  - In R1, some players approached the referee at the wrong time and repeatedly questioned the referee's decisions. There is an appropriate time for the Captain to speak with the referee. Please ensure that when the Captain speaks with the referee, it is to clarify the decision, not to dispute it. Please take the time to read the “Captains' Communication” sections from the Law Interpretations below.       •    The most practical times are after a try has been confirmed.     •    Half-time.     •    When time has been called off for an injury.

We played for you and hope we made you proud 💚 Every cheer. Every message. Every hug. We heard you. We felt you. It’s an agonising way for the tournament to end and all the emotions are very real. We showed we’re right there with the best in the world in tournament baseball, but still have some work to do. The only way we can do it is together. Let’s back each other, be kind, and inspire Australia to play this great game. Hurting tonight but we’ll be back. We love Australia and we love you 💚

There Are No Rules Anymore, Just Whims and Vibes: The NRL has now entered the post-rules phase of its existence, where laws of the game are not black and white or even grey, when penalties and six-agains are simply used to give one team momentum and then flick it around. Referees no longer enforce rules. They manage games, more film director than police officer. There was no more extreme example than Liam Kennedy’s laughable start to the Manly-Canberra game where he awarded five set restarts and gave four penalties to Manly – in the first 8:23 of the game. Not only was such a barrage completely ridiculous, it just defies logic that such stringent enforcement of the rules suddenly stops. Canberra did not give away a single six-again after that first 8:23 – not a single one. Referees are awarding these with absolutely zero accountability, having a huge bearing on the game without time for commentators to discuss the reason for the infringement let alone the veracity. It is complete and utter madness yet referees are empowered to be tinpot dictators. The six-again rule was born out of good intent – to allow attacking teams to maintain their momentum against teams attempting to slow them down – but has turned into a  complete farce that has changed not only the very nature of how the game is played but can dictate who wins and who loses. The rule needs to be, at a minimum, wound back significantly. c/ @Tedeschi8181 ⬇️

Jared Maxwell was a pretty average ref. This makes him very qualified for the referee boss role. We've seen his influence of this in the first 2 rounds. Well done all on his recruitment 👏 👏
