This is the one STR I didn’t sell: ‘20 (bought 6/20) - $46K gross ‘21 - $103K ‘22 - $84K ‘23 - $44K ‘24 - will finish near $40K This is not indicative of all STR’s, but MANY people who bought Airbnb’s as an investment in ‘22/‘23, when the prices were being based on ‘20/‘21/‘22 rental numbers, are getting HAMMERED. Couple the high prices paid with 7-9% interest rates for investment property, and it’s going to turn into a nightmare for quite a few. Keep in mind there are major expenses as well to running a STR. You pay the electric, internet, gas, water and MANY other expenses each month. So that gross is far from my net income on this. Yes there are some operators who are doing well. But I’m seeing a complete reversion for many back owners to the numbers achieved in 2019 and prior. If you’ve never invested in Real Estate before but you’re itching to get into it, I would highly advise you to reel in your excitement for the time being. With high rates and high prices, it’s a very tricky time to be buying investment property currently.
