Do you guys think Copycat would see play in current standard if it was legal? 🤔 It has been legal in plenty of formats prior but never saw play because of all the better supporter options we had. Today, all we really have is Lillie so I think this could have been viable! ✌️

@Crownified Collecting the TCG is the most expensive its ever been, but playing the actual TCG may be the cheapest it's ever been. Theres not really a standard base card over $5, and most of the top decks are less than $50, with some even being around $20.

I don't even think this is true. The Pokemon anime is being uploaded near daily on Youtube for free rn and the mobile games provide a free entry point for a lot of kids without proper consoles. The TCG is really the only thing that's being gutted by adults rn

@MeltingSnowBro You answered your own question... scalping happens when the market price is higher the actual price. Happens when supply is limited, such as a concert or sporting event. Companies set price too low, but there'd be plenty of backlash if they set it at market price.

Can an economist explain how scalping is even possible?
If you can buy a $50 product and immediately resell it for $100, then the company selling it at $50 is clearly leaving money on the table.
