This newsletter from @jdmoran does a nice job compiling AI use cases in finance. Great for keeping a pulse on new AI tools and workflows. The latest edition below mentions my initial test drive of Claude Cowork. blog.flatcircle.ai/p/models-deliv…

Anybody have good AI use cases for investment workflows beyond primers, basic modeling, and chat/search?

@TheRealAneesh @chrisbarber @krishnanrohit Have you seen futurex-ai.github.io (see the S&P Leaderboard). I think forecasting future earnings is more promising than stock returns. One issue with historicals is that tool use / open web makes a huge difference in forecast accuracy so you'd miss that in your benchmark

llm benchmark idea: earnings forecasting take an llm with certain knowledge cutoff dates, give it info prior to earnings releases, have the models think through and forecast earnings related: ForecastBench, and some of the stuff @krishnanrohit has done, FinCall-Surprise, Scaling Core Earnings Measurement with Large Language Models. not a new idea, but i do think it could be done again with today's models and updated scaffolding, and would be very interesting cc @tejassaboo @jay_azhang

What are some of the coolest ways you have incorporated LLMs / vibe coding into your investing process? (Research, position tracking, etc)

@thomasrice_au We've found it helpful asking this question to different models to get a wider variety

AI coding is great for experimentation. Not sure what an UI should look like? Explain the problem and ask it to come up with 10 different interfaces as separate HTML files with embedded JS/CSS. Then pick one and iterate before hooking it up to your real systems.

$COTY has not had consecutive green months since 2023. Stock's been decimated, but they're cleaning house... CEO out. Board chair out. More getting canned. $VSCO-type play coming? Doing more digging. $COTY now $3.20.

Yipit cofounder @jdmoran on a few interesting case studies of hedge funds using LLMs in their research process blog.flatcircle.ai/p/creative-way… Couldn't agree more about the below. I feel like I'm having a whole first call with LLMs beforehand, then getting 2x the insight from the call

Average persons monthly garbage bill less than their monthly Starbucks bill. Republic Services $RSG CEO: the industry is underpriced.

@jdmoran @fintool: They will likely report weak Q2 results consistent with the lowered September guidance and maintain the current FY2026 outlook of -4% to -2% beer net sales decline.

@blamealan @paulisci @paulisci Did the book ever come out? Looks like Unbound went bankrupt? Was really excited to read it, so would support any plans to make it happen.

Today, we launched the data product I have been working on for the past nine months. I am giddy. Data is going to transform the franchise industry and expand access to business ownership. Check out our launch post!
Wefranch@wefranch

Wefranch has launched DataLab! Franchising is booming, but prospective franchisees are still stuck with incomplete info, biased brokers, and hard-to-access FDDs. DataLab supports franchisees with one-click access to crucial data about thousands of franchises. Link in comments

@JigarShahDC Thanks for the mention! I looked into trying to solve this, but seemed like the ESIID / Service ID solution works pretty well for the ISOs. Maybe I'm missing something - reason you'd need a third party?
