One day (hopefully many many years from now), there will eventually be a final episode of The Hard Count. These are the only regrets I would ever have when that day comes: 1. If we didn't empty the tank for the CFB community. Respect and love CFB too much to ever give anything less than our best. 2. If we didn't have an absolute BLAST. Talking about college football for a living is the furthest thing from "work." The EA thing got me thinking about what we could do the playoff with a united front.

Notre Dame was #3 in the final FPI last season…and they got left out of the playoff…cmon now

Hey dumbfuck it quite literally decides who gets into the CFP when they stack up “SOS” and “SOR” to compare teams, those are calculated using FPI. Log off buddy

@RealDealTru Highest ranked SEC team in the final FPI last year was behind a Big 12 team, an ACC team, Notre Dame, and 3 Big Ten teams.

@jdpickell Yea that ego won’t let you see the real issue. The computer didn’t just show up one day and create a formula. Someone created the algorithm. SEC teams always end up in the top w 25. Inflates the “quality wins” in the SEC. Nice part

@jdpickell It doesn’t decide games, but SOS decides Playoff spots and screws over 11-win BYU because they didn’t start the season with an insane advantage over everyone else for no reason like Alabama and Oklahoma do.

The issue is that it’s the beginning of a narrative. It’s small and seams meaningless right now, but that snowballs throughout the season as Auburn and Missouri give SEC teams “high quality” wins that eventually leads to a 3 loss Alabama team getting into the playoffs
