I’m in plenty of philosophical conversations in SF with people at frontier labs, Big Tech, and startups - people building and deploying AI, both for capabilities and safety. Plenty of philosophers and sci-fi writers come up, occasionally even other cultural figures and politicians. You know who has never come up? Nick Land. We need journalists to actually come talk to whom they cover, plus the thinkers that matter to SV (Deutsch, Ilya, Sam and Elon, Jensen, Dario & Demis, Schmidt, Carmack, Andrej, etc). @tbpn does a great job of this - not sure if @NewYorker is even trying.
