A couple of developers rushing to temporarily change Bitcoin’s consensus rules over a manufactured emergency could set a dangerous precedent.

I have 0 sponsors. I have 0 donors. 3 years ago, I was anti-knots and anti-filter. It was only through my journey of trying to prove them wrong that I realized I was the one in the wrong. Be willing to be wrong. Never dig your heels in. Seek truth. My opinions aren't for sale.

@jdwagner17 @start9labs While my issue was due to being on 0.3 vs 0.4, you absolutely should not be recommending non-installed versions of software on an software updates tab.

An interesting anecdotal tidbit on the whole Core vs BIP-110 saga, especially if you use Start9 OS. As you can see in the first screenshot, I do not have Knots installed. However, they are displaying it on the Updates tab which should be for installed packages only. They also don't allow you to update past Core 29.3.1. If you want to run a newer version, you are forced to sideload. You're telling me you couldn't ready a distribution package for something that has been out since October 2025? Considering Start9 is basically the defacto recommendation to run nodes, suppressing default service versioning while recommending a non-installed version is antithetical to self sovereignty and freedom tech. "Start9: Sovereign Computing" is their tagline after all. It also makes me understand why there many be so many Knots v29 nodes showing on @w_s_bitcoin's dashboard that haven't signaled for BIP-110. Will definitely no longer recommend Start9 at the @VegasBitcoiners meetup as I have for over the last two years.

Hey Jason, We have explained this ad nauseam. It's a bug in StartOS 0.3.5.1 that has been fully fixed in StartOS 0.4.0, which we highly recommend updating to. The *only* reason you are seeing Bitcoin Knots in your updates is because you are running a *lower* version of Core. If you were to update to Core 30, for example, you would not see Knots 29.3.1 as an "update". No conspiracy, just a bug that has been very well announced and is already fixed in the latest OS for months. x.com/start9labs/sta…
Start9@start9labs

⚠ BITCOIN CORE v30.0, PLEASE READ ⚠ HOW TO INSTALL? 1. Stop Bitcoin. 3. Download "bitcoind.s9pk" from the bitcoin-core-startos Github release page. github.com/Start9Labs/bit… 4. In StartOS, navigate to System -> Sideload a Service 5. Upload bitcoind.s9pk WHY DOWNLOAD INSTEAD OF MARKETPLACE? Knots and Core share the same ID. This allows dependent services, such as lightning, to use either one. It also allows people to switch between them without needing to resync the blockchain. Due to a bug in StartOS 0.3.5.1, if either service goes up in version, it will show as an "update" for the other service. This sucks and has caused people to think StartOS is trying to trick them into switching. To minimize confusion and mistakes, we release new versions of Knots and Core in parallel and require explicit action for switching. Not ideal, but a decent stop gap until StartOS 0.4.0. Because there is no Knots v30.0, listing Core 30.0 on the marketplace would result in Knots users forever seeing Core v30.0 as a "update". As such, we are making Core v30.0 available as a download/sideload instead of listing it on the marketplace.

It is possible to be knowledgeable about something while being spiritually misaligned with it. Your typical Chinese Communist Party operative knows quite a bit about how United States governance works. That doesn’t mean US intelligence agencies should start hiring CCP operatives.

@ausbtcclub @hodlonaut If all that mattered was technical, then influence would have no place in this world. There is more than one front to this disagreement. The perceptive and socially intuitive are the protectors in this case. BIP110 is the medium.

@ausbtcclub @hodlonaut Autism has its strengths, but also has major weaknesses. Autists think people lie all the time, because they literally do with their words. But people who see the message or intent beyond the words don’t feel that way. BIP110 is a response to an intent that was sniffed out.

Handles comparing low IQ supporting Knots. AGAINST KNOTS BIP110: Adam Back Jameson Lopp Stephen Livera Shinobi Peter Todd Wang Chun (F2Pool) Wicked FOR KNOTS BIP110: Luke Dashjr Matt Kratter Parman Simon Dixon Jeff Booth Nick Szabo Michael Dunworth Justin Bechler Dr. Jack Krus GrassFedBitcoin Dathon Ohms Hodlonaut Knut Svanholm Start9 Labs Ill admit my IQ is low though I can see and read a bullshitter from across space. I wouldn't, couldn't trust Lopp or Todd as far as I could throw them. I've respected the FOR list many years prior to this based on their transparency and knowledge.

I feel like I'm being harassed about the importance of voting. No, this is not the most important election of our lifetime. No, this is not an existential threat. No, I don't have to choose sides. Bitcoin is better than this.

"You're either with us or against us. Don't be a fence-sitter." Classic false dilemma. It takes more courage to be independent (thereby angering both camps), choose your own priorities, and try to speak truth with nuance, uncertainty, less ego, without the need to belittle others or preach to the choir. It's a harder path, but maybe a good one for navigating complex problems. Working on it.

dude, 90% of BT are feds. alright? like, be real. why do we have so many IDF cunts around for example. or Mars_Hodl with whatever bail conditions he got (jokes, chill. but look at his face). just pick the feds that support a peer to peer monetary network instead of whatever the fuck the feds in core are doing. i dont who is who, i dont trust any of you, and that was the whole point. we run our own shit so we dont have to trust anyone. if anything, stop trusting people telling you not to run your own shit lol

@matteopelleg @LukeDashjr Lots of people with different motivations and awareness are going to say stuff. Take the strongest of arguments from both sides and compare those. Which is strongest? I think for myself, and plenty of others do too. Both sides.

the bip110 debate reminds me of the abortion debate: the pro-life side think women wanna kill babies the pro-choice side think men wanna control their bodies the pro-bip110 side think that core is a cabal of evil developers who love spam and hate bitcoin, and that adam back was epstein best friend the anti-bip110 side think we want to attack bitcoin, decide how people spend their bitcoin and that we hate freedom you shuold resist these urges and stick to the merit of your argument
