@eroscestlavie_x For me it’s much more a labor issue than it is some crisis of creativity. I think talking about what is and isn’t art kinda obfuscates that fact. I’m more concerned with the job loss and downstream ramifications of that versus the existential threat

The context for AI's endless output of mid-grade work was established long before AI. To address it we have to acknowledge the role of the entertainment and commercial arts in degrading art appreciation. This is tricky, because many artists work in these fields, myself included.

Eventually we may need to have a hard conversation about how this attitude misrepresents the full social context for how creative work has been cheapened + why. And perhaps in this case also a conversation about what narcissism is and where it can be located in this post lol

Sorry, this sounds bitter and mean spirited. I am excited to see my family and my hometown has many redeeming qualities. I just thought I’d be slutting it up in Europe :(
