@t64_bv @valigo smh, here we go with the tribal bullshit again. Both languages are solid tools just use what fits the job instead of turning it into a religion lol

"I have no idea what you are talking about", said Linus Torvalds when asked about his opinion on the current Zig, Rust, and Bun situation.

I read this issue earlier this morning and kinda feel sympathetic towards Andrew. Bun’s rewrite to Rust has obviously impacted him (hence the “unlike Rust” comment). Whilst that part is petty, it does seem to be driving him to find a solution for Zig. Personally, I don’t think garbage collection is the right solution (1-6x perf impact), but even still, the fact he’s searching for one to improve Zig following one of its biggest negative events is commendable imho. Either way, will be interesting to see where he lands.

@valigo I think it’s not compulsory to follow all the guidelines. You can see which aspects would be great for your project and try those.

NASA's power of 10 or TigerStyle seems to be quite an obtuse way to write software. It requires a lot of up-front design effort, and hinders prototyping. In exchange, it gives you things like predictable performance, and, even cooler, no need for dynamic data structures at all. It's tradeoffs all the way down!

"The only people underestimating Africa are Africans - because we have no fucking clue what we are sitting on and we still get most of our information from predatory western sources"
David Hundeyin@DavidHundeyin

Africa is not being underestimated by anyone. That is a dangerous misconception that I once had. What is actually happening is that Africa is being deliberately underreported and suppressed from mainstream global news cycles because some powerful people need to keep it a secret that their dominance over the global economy as we know it is entirely built on extracting 100 for the price of 0.5 from Africa. If that coup in Niger had never happened for example, we would never have known that France's famously cheap and plentiful nuclear energy which makes up 70% of its energy mix, and which it sells to the rest of Europe, was cheap and plentiful because Orano spent decades bending Niger over a barrel, paying the country 50 euro cents/kg for Yellowcake uranium when the market price was between €150 and €200/kg. We didn't know this - but France and its EU collaborators absolutely did, which is why they're sponsoring EU resolutions condemning the AES every 5 minutes. They know exactly what they've lost! The only people underestimating Africa are Africans - because we have no fucking clue what we are sitting on and we still get most of our information from predatory western sources. Don't get it twisted - everybody outside Africa who matters fully understands what Africa is, which is why Ethiopian Airlines keeps recording a new record profit every year, and it is building the world's largest airport in Bishoftu. Most of that traffic is not made up of Africans. People from around the world don't stampede in such numbers into a continent that they "underestimate." We're the dummies chasing visas to go work for gold elsewhere while we inherited the entire fucking gold mine.

The EU just killed DIY PCB design With the new tax on imports (3€ per import of each category) I now would have to pay 3€ for every PCB component that I have to solder at home I can't buy PCB components in Germany because THEY ARE NOT EVEN MANUFACTURED HERE ANYWHERE ITS JUST CHINA AND AMERICA So instead of 20 bucks for one prototype PCB with 20 different components It's now 80€ Fuck you @vonderleyen

The better you want an AI model to perform, the more of your prompts, data, corrections, & feedback you must feed it. That creates information asymmetry: the provider learns ever more about your business while revealing little in return and value accrues to them.
