@RealJessePalmer If I remember correctly I was interlocking five or six devices at picture start. Had an 8-track reel to reel for pre show announcement with time code.

@jeff70mm That sounds right. I couldn't remember. I'm not sure if the SR has the same pulses or not. We've also retired the DTAC for the FPAC so it's all different now. No more replacing bad cards.

@RealJessePalmer Are you saying you have to cut slug into the print? That can’t possibly be right. I’ve seen countless imax films projected and I’ve never noticed slug. Many of these were old educational films which will have been projected many times - there will have had to have been cuts.

@jeff70mm @AlexLandherr Yeah, it’s standby. It’s an SR so not water cooled. I actually don’t know off the top of my head what it gets up to.

This is the IMAX console we have here. Very old, but very reliable. You can see Odyssey is over 250k frames which includes the Dune 3 prologue. This works out to over 11 miles of film at around 630lbs.

@AlexLandherr @RealJessePalmer I assume those are standby lamp voltage and current. Voltage and current will increase when running, about 400 amperes for a 15kW water-cooled xenon lamp.

They're the largest living things on Earth. Some of them have been standing since before Rome was a republic. 🌳 Now Congress wants to "save" them. By logging them. It's called the "Save Our Sequoias Act." And it does the opposite of what it says. S. 4103 just passed the House and sits in the Senate right now, and it would let logging companies cut down mature, thousand year old sequoias, no limit on how many, no limit on their size or age. It does this by carving out a new exemption from the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), our bedrock law requiring environmental review and public input before major logging projects. It wouldn't stop at the groves. The bill also amends the Wilderness Act itself, opening the door to human intervention (planting, "vegetation control," possible roads) inside land that's supposed to stay untouched by law. This applies inside Yosemite. Inside Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Inside the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Inside land Congress designated as Wilderness specifically to keep humans out. Who do you trust more to keep a 2,000 year old tree alive? The forest that's survived every fire for two millennia, or a logging company with a 3,000 acre permit and no one watching? 🌳 What are your thoughts? Sound off below👇 #DemsUnited

TPS expires Friday. 12,000-15,000 Haitians in a city of under 60,000 become deportable overnight. Kristi Noem's own paperwork claims Haiti is safe. The U.S. government bars its own airlines from flying there and tells Americans not to go. DeWine calls the policy "a mistake" — and says nobody in Washington is listening. Springfield already lost 1,100 jobs and 13% of its manufacturing workforce, before a single removal happened. Read more: s.tiffinohio.net/dYeD3io

Elon Musk’s cuts to U.S.A.I.D. led to some 700,000 deaths, according to Atul Gawande, a former leading administrator at the agency. Gawande, backed by recent academic studies, believes that the death toll will likely reach seven figures. The policy is not only immeasurably cruel, he argues; it is also stupid, badly undermining what remains of American soft power and prestige. Gawande explains the human cost of DOGE’s war on U.S.A.I.D.: t.co/pcqDGOFqdJ?utm…

A new OMB rule would let Trump "terminate or suspend any grant at any time for any reason and without any notice." Hundreds of billions in federal funding for universities, nonprofits and local programs would hinge on political appointees' approval. Even GOP Sen. Susan Collins wants parts of it withdrawn. Christopher Nolan on re-releasing #ThePrestige and if he can imagine reuniting with Christian Bale for a fifth collaboration: "Oh, of course. He’s one of the great actors of his generation, and I’ve had tremendous experiences with him. I’m thrilled that they’re going to re-release 'The Prestige' because it’s one of his most underrated performances. I’m just really excited to bring it to fresh audiences. We’re actually going to do 70 millimeter blow-ups. Wally Pfister shot it anamorphically on 35 millimeter, and he did an incredible job. I screened a 35 mil print the other day to check it, and his photography is just extraordinary. Nathan Crowley’s production design is amazing as well. So it’s going to look absolutely beautiful blown up to 70 millimeter, and we’re going to start that process in the next few weeks." DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin threatened to prosecute election officials in states that won't share voter data with the feds. States run elections, not DHS — and it's unclear what authority he'd use to investigate them. Democratic and Republican secretaries of state alike are calling his noncitizen-voter claims unsubstantiated. Read more: s.tiffinohio.net/mYnNrMi
