A tiny bee just did what chemotherapy couldn't. Scientists in Australia discovered that honeybee venom can wipe out 100% of aggressive breast cancer cells in under 60 minutes. And the healthy cells around them? Barely touched. The breakthrough came from Dr. Ciara Duffy and her team at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, working alongside the University of Western Australia. They tested venom drawn from 312 honeybees and bumblebees across Australia, Ireland, and England. The target: triple-negative breast cancer and HER2-enriched breast cancer. Two of the deadliest, most stubborn forms of the disease. The weapon: melittin. The same tiny peptide that makes a bee sting burn. At one specific dose, melittin tore through cancer cell membranes completely within an hour. Within just 20 minutes, it shut down the chemical signals cancer cells need to grow and multiply. Bumblebee venom, which lacks melittin, did nothing. Zero effect, even at high concentrations. Scientists then recreated melittin synthetically in the lab and got almost identical results, meaning no bees need to be harmed to develop the therapy. Published in the peer-reviewed journal npj Precision Oncology, the findings are still early-stage. Human trials haven't happened yet. But one thing is clear. Nature has been hiding answers in plain sight all along, sometimes inside the smallest creatures on Earth. 🩷✨ Please take a moment to read✨ 🩷 I saw this on FB and I just want to help this legend out. Most of you have probably seen The Bushmen Outback Opal Hunters latest video with Rod Manning's update. If you haven't, unfortunately Rod has Stage 4 Bowel Cancer. It's hard to even put all my thoughts into words. Rod is one of the best humans I've ever met. You know those people that people say would "give you the shirt off their own back", that's him. He is such a genuine, caring, hardworking and inspiring person and I'm so lucky to have him as one of my closest friends (let's be honest, we're family 😄) as well as getting to mine alongside him. This year hasn't been easy and he's been soildering on through chemo and radiation to beat this thing. It does take its toll though and without being able to mine, our endless machinery breakdowns and not much colour, it's making the year a lot harder than it already is. It'd be amazing to take the financial stress off him and his family so he can focus on his treatment, spending time with loved ones and being able to spend time doing things he loves doing without worrying about finances. Almost five years ago, I got so fed up with the inaccuracies that Neil deGrasse Tyson was saying in the media about the UFO/UAP topic that I challenged him to a public debate on the issue.
