In ministry, your character will be tested more than your competency ever will be.

What if “Let us” in Genesis 1 really is about the Trinity and not the divine council?

@lukedsimmons A bit on the nose, but…that they are smarter than they really are…and/or that they know better than everyone else.

What are the dumbest things that smart pastors tend to believe about ministry leadership?

Here’s a feature request for @Apple - allow for different notification settings for messages vs reactions in iMessage. I don’t need a badge because someone 👍🏻 a message.

I keep hearing about how advanced AI is but I’m trying to create a circle that divided into 5 equal parts and so far none of the AI models are able to come even close.

The controversy surrounding the hug is pretty much all you need to know about why social media is so toxic and damaging. It amplifies the worst of us.

@kennysilva @KirkMiller_ It appears we’d disagree on whether the preaching of the word is essential to covenant making, which is fine. In my experience, not wanting some pastoral remarks is an exception (only happened once). As with all exceptions, it might indicate a problem, or it might not.

Nothing is ever about the pastor and the sermon. I would argue that apart from some explication of the word, you don’t have the making of a covenant. It’s an incredible gospel opportunity couched in the middle of what ought to be treated as a worship service. If the couple doesn’t want even a short sermon, then I suspect they’ll have more fundamental disagreements with me about what a wedding is and how it should go. We probably wouldn’t be a good fit.

I recently attended a wedding ceremony in which the pastor did NOT preach a sermon. From procession to recession, we were done in under 10 minutes. I was a little surprised... Pastors, would you ever perform a wedding in which you weren't allowed to preach?

@KirkMiller_ @kennysilva I have no issue with that (although my wedding sermon is usually around 10 mins). The wedding ceremony isn’t about the pastor or their sermon.

@kennysilva Follow up: What if the couple gave you a time limit for the sermon/homily? 😊
