Society of Golf Historians — Summer Gathering at Oak Hill Country Club This summer, the Society of Golf Historians will gather for an intimate meeting at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York—one of the game’s most storied venues. Oak Hill’s legacy is defined by its remarkable championship history, having hosted multiple U.S. Opens, PGA Championships, a Ryder Cup, and the U.S. Amateur—placing it among the most trusted stages in the game. For the Society, this gathering offers a rare opportunity to experience golf history where it has unfolded for over a century. Outing will include: • Golf on Oak Hills’ historic East Course • Tour of the clubhouse • Dinner in the League or Iroquois Room • Presentation of the History of Oak Hill. This outing will be extremely limited. #GolfHistory

Shinnecock Hills has the U.S. Open this year. In 1900, it hosted the Women's Am and received a ton of press coverage before and after the tournament. It was a much different layout than today. @lbt3um @tullfescue

I’m thankful to have a wife that prefers to stay in… So, I’m combing through a stack of over 100 British golf patent filings I recently acquired dated between 1910-1968. Patents related to golf balls, golf clubs, accessories, and more… take a look at one of the patents I’ve discovered… 🧐😂 Legitimately in golf history heaven! First photo I’ll share of some cool stuff that arrived yesterday… I bought a lot of a dozen different neck ties from The Open that have the Claret Jug on them… Ranging from 1990 to 2015. Including ties from: ⛳️ 1995 (Tiger’s first & Arnie’s last Open) ⛳️ 1999 (Van de Velde) ⛳️ 2000 (Tiger’s 1st Open) ⛳️and 2005 (Tiger’s 2nd Open) …among others! Which is your favorite design? 🤔 I don’t wear ties often, so I’ll only keep 2-3 and the rest will be available for sale soon. 🫣

Great question - it’s not a requirement for here in February if you attended last month.
