🌶️ AAU Admissions Hot-Take💰 I’ve been on all sides of this - college coach, general admission, event operator. I get the frustration. I hate that if our family wanted to go watch 1 of our kids play it would be $200+ for weekend admission on top of all the other fees, travel expenses etc. BUT Here’s the reality. EVERYTHING is expensive right now. I don’t think most people realize the costs for the facility (especially large convention centers) insurance, table workers, referees, event staff, etc. It’s a HIGHLY competitive space, with lots of people wanting to run events. If someone could run a large, quality event and charge $15 for weekend admission, THEY WOULD DO IT. Because every team and family would want to play in that event. But there’s a reason you don’t see quality events at that admission price, and it isn’t “greed”. It’s because whoever ran that event would lose a ton of money, and people aren’t going to spend hundreds of hours putting together a youth tournament AND lose tens of thousands of dollars in the process. No one forces teams to play in the big events. A lot of teams, especially younger age groups, could definitely just play in smaller, local tournaments. But the idea that you could have large, quality tournaments where you play against good competition from other areas with $15 admission is just not happening.

Look at the price to attend AAU basketball this weekend in Pittsburgh. The get-in price for Game 1 of the Cavs playoff series tonight in Cleveland was $43. (via @ohioaf)

@JoeKinseyexp @OhioAF Best thing you can do as a business owner is invest in youth sports tournaments. No real estate quick flips or crypto. Parents will forever live through their kids and won’t turn down making them play 10 games in 48 hours 🤣

@pwfree23 It’s youth sports what did you expect. Tournaments only care about money and feed off parents chasing dreams for their kids. If a kid tears an ACL by playing 5 games in 2 days that’s what insurance is for.

@THEKingBuckeye It’s recruiting of high school kids it no longer matters. Could be in the portal after a year either route who cares. Focus on the players that are on the team currently and worry about next year when it comes

Don’t forget Snapchat! This man has been harassing those LSU babies 😂
Jacques Doucet@JacquesDoucet

. @LSUfootball @Lane_Kiffin says two things in particular can poison a coaching staff - egos and agendas. These things then trickle down to players, who will have a hard time buying into a team concept preached by the coaches. "I was too much about credit to me." #LSU

@JBook_37 @davebiddle There’s a reason college coaches gets paid $500k+ a year to scout players while 247 writers make roughly $50k.

Like I told @davebiddle on our Friday show. The recruiting rankings royally screwed up Brock Boyd's high school rankings. Rule of thumb should be if a WR is torching big boy football in Texas they are not the 100+ ranked WR. The kid had 4,186 yards and 46 TD's in Texas in 3 yrs.

@TheTabe @BuckeyeNatty Well My guess is people who ask these type of questions do not really care about players once you are no longer playing football and entertaining them. They no longer matter to most fans and that’s okay just say that.

@AdamKing10TV Adam, great takeaways. But honestly as a former player zone 6 was never the issue. Let us know an update on the offensive line when you get it. Thanks

One takeaway from today, Zone 6 is again ridiculously talented this year. Don't sleep on Devin McCuin, he and Kyle Parker are going to be HUGE for the Buckeyes. Add in Brandon Inniss taking that next step, and Jeremiah Smith - and then the freshmen! That room just reloads:

@AWilliamsUSA @CoachChadMurphy And if you happen to meet all of these standards, make it to college on a scholarship. At that point you will still be set back in life when no one is holding your hand anymore 24+ and life hits you hard with no real world experience or guidance in corporate

High school players and parents… here’s the reality of recruiting. College coaches evaluate size first. Height, weight, and frame matter at every level of college football. Start by being honest and set realistic expectations about where you fit. If you meet the size standards, you still have to produce. Big players are everywhere. Coaches recruit the ones who can run, think, compete, and make plays on film. If you don’t meet the size standards, you must bring something extra. Elite speed. High football IQ. Toughness. Playmaking ability. Know where you stand. Set realistic expectations. Then go to work. Learn more: connectedathletics.org Academics. Development.
