The concept of a CMS as a direct manipulation tool is over. We are in transition to the next interface.

An ecosystem where people are afraid to disagree has lost its most important feedback mechanism. It just doesn't know it yet. I've been sitting on an uncomfortable blog post for months now. Part of me wants to soften it. Part of me knows that's exactly the problem.

@CoenJacobs Nice, I’ll give this some thought this week. Related, but have you ever heard of the Asch effect? If you combine that with power asymmetry…it’s possibly what we’re seeing now. FWIW I am completely out of the WordPress game. So my opinions are not super valid really 😁

@CoenJacobs That’s what I mean 😊 it’s an indicator that it’s wildly off balance.

@jeffikus Not when the imbalance is so blatantly obvious and people are afraid to bite the hand that feeds them.

The thing about the Amazon agentic situation is, I wonder if they tested this in isolation first or just went all in on a tool because it’s “the way of the future?” Anyways…that’s my random thought for the day 😊

The thing I enjoy the most about AI tools like Cursor or Claude, is that they empower folks like me in Engineering Management to wipe out that gap which happens when you spend less time in the code. You can use them to contribute, learn, and understand the code base.

I made a little weather app with a frog that changes its outfit and mood according to the weather. I illustrated it myself and used Apple’s Foundation Models to give it some character.

Something I've been having a lot of fun with recently: I've been building custom AI agents that help me with my GTD weekly reviews and my time blocking my days. I already had my GTD productivity system pretty well documented in Obsidian, and I had Claude Code create agents based on the documentation to help me do my weekly review, which I'd been struggling to keep up with each week. The agents are just markdown files that have the weekly review process documented including using Todoist via the command line to fetch my active projects and next actions. I can just ask Claude Code to fetch and run the agent, and it walks through the weekly review with me. It can do some pretty powerful reasoning around rescheduling, my capacity, and even things I might miss. It asks me questions and based on my answers it makes all the changes in Todoist on my behalf. This has streamlined the weekly review process and reduced friction for me in a way that is helping me get back to the core principle of GTD, which is to get things out of my head and into a system that I keep updated and can trust. It's helping me crank through tasks and be more clear minded, and it's been giving me so many ideas about ways I could extend this workflow.

Here’s an idea: I just used WordPress to build an app. Not a website. An app. Domain. Hosting. Auth. Database. Everything. I just didn’t use the theme layer. Maybe WordPress isn’t just a website builder. It’s an application platform? What’s stopping us treating it that way?

@github I've been trying to complete the education benefit application, and despite following your guidelines, it fails every time. You also don't have a support channel for this or manual upload - only your AWFUL camera upload. What now?

I found a Flappy Bird JS clone on github and had Claude shoe this into a @nativephp app in about 10 minutes - imagine the possibilities!

@jeffikus That’s crazy! I think that’s the issue here. It’s not something I ever worry about here. Whereas it seems to be a big stress in the US. And it sounds like if you not on top of it, it could mean life or death from a cost perspective too!

@JBagley For sure, it is a deep challenge financially and just understanding the ins and outs! From my experience in SA on top Discovery plan, even that couldn't get my condition and my kids condition diagnosed accurately. That's a real problem.

@JBagley I’ve lived in both. You can’t compare the 2 systems. Diagnostic and specialists in the US is far superior. Financially the US is worse than SA. And it’s not health insurance in the US, it’s more of a payment arrangement. General medicine in SA is way less frustrating.
