@howertonjosh Envy - see Psalm 37 Cain envied Abel → murder Joseph’s brothers envied him → sold into slavery. Saul envied David → attempted murder. The leaders envied Jesus → crucifixion.

@howertonjosh There is a biblical parallel that immediately comes to mind. John 11:47-48: “If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation."

Political violence is a feature, not a bug of progressivism. Because progressivism is built on top of a Critical Theory lens that sees the world through "Oppressed vs Oppressor" categories rather than a Christian Theology lens of "Right vs Wrong", it trains people to see opponents not as mistaken, but as evil oppressors. If you believe someone is mistaken, you try to persuade them (what @charliekirk11 did). If you believe someone is an evil oppressor ("literally Hitler!", "fascist", "existential threat to democracy", virtually everything and everyone is "racist"), you will feel a moral obligation to stop them. This is why there is radically disproportionate violence emerging on the Left.

There are some issues that are not worth dividing the Church over. We call these second and third-tier issues. Then there are issues where it's more important to be *right* than to be together. There are now entire denominations that have become what theologians call "apostate" denominations.

Men - if you saw a young woman hitchhiking would you pick her up so she’s safe, or would you keep driving so you’re not accused of anything?

@RevivedThoughts I never sell my books. I might gift a book to someone, but if it is a false teacher I warn them.

@KatMcKinley Gun range? At that age, men also want shared interests. But the other posters are right — the men aren’t looking to marry and can and will date down I think.

@TerriGreenUSA I was on to the JD greer grift 15 seconds after I first saw him. His shifty eyed mannerisms gives him away. Body language and his voice. This is yet another confirmation the he is out in the weeds.

Jen Wilkin’s interview with JD Greear in 2019 at the Summit Church on complementarianism. This is not what the Scriptures say. This is trying to change the meaning so that women can justify preaching. Sadly, this is being promoted by men in leadership in the SBC and their churches. For a number of years, complementarianism has been articulated more as a backlash position than as just a genuine place that we find ourselves in the Scriptures, and anytime you're stating a backlash position, it's usually done out of fear. And so one of the things that we wanted to do at the Village when we started looking at this is ask “what if we decided not to be fearful around this and to just look to the text” and ask some basic questions of it. Because we think sometimes the approach had just been if there was a question of what a woman could or could not do well. You know, just to be safe, guys, let's err on the side of caution, and when you do that, it means you only perceive danger to be to your left, and moving further and further to the right is not a problem. But that's what ends up happening if you just err in one direction, so often we have just because we have not wanted to take the time to evaluate is this really what the Scriptures say about this, we have leaned that direction, and it has led to even if we can say that our theology is pure in this, our practice is not actually demonstrating that we value the contributions of both men and women.

I had an attractive friend who dated a lot. Every single guy she’s dated, with one exception, has broken up with her. She’s not particularly picky either, but guys almost always dump her. Typically the next girlfriend isn’t nearly as attractive as she is, and by her assessment, not as smart as she is. She then finds fault with the guy, never ever looking within, never wondering what it is about her that failed the relationship. She always declares he’s the loser. It’s no surprise that she’s approaching 50 and is still single….and a democrat.

I had four students take pics of my exam and upload them to ChatGPT while I was in the room. Lol. I gave the students a study guide for the final on the first day of class. Many students are lazy and don’t care. Cheating is rampant. AI only emboldens them.

The future of work, in one line: Machines do the work. Humans do the living. We spent a century with that backwards. The correction is here. It’s not gentle, and it’s not optional. But on the other side of it is the most human era we’ve ever had a shot at.
