Nobody regrets betting on consistency. Maybe slow progress, maybe repetitive days, maybe frustrating setbacks… But never wasted effort.

Today 52 years ago I was born. I have been extremely blessed and fortunate in so many ways. Seen many memories and pains! God has been extremely gracious and kind. 52 years have taught me the value of people and networks! I am who I am because of so many kind people. Amen

if someone tells you, "You have so much potential," smile, say thank you, and ask yourself: Am I becoming useful? Because potential talks. Usefulness works.

none of those are "be naturally gifted at something." People who become indispensable don't rely on raw talent or pedigree. They build leverage by being useful - consistently, measurably, repeatedly. That shifts the game, regardless of your background. So

Potential is overrated. Usefulness wins. I recently got into recreational running. During a marathon, a friend watched me pace along and said: "You're a natural. You have so much potential."

#IShowSpeed has been in the Carrebian tour and his live stream has broken a record of 1 million views. That’s not the best part. The best part is that #Expedia took a gamble on him and sponsored this trip. It has made him its Travel Partner. The Caribbean tour itself spans 15 islands, including St. Lucia, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. The partnership will continue beyond the Caribbean into North America. #Expedia is essentially betting that Gen Z discovers destinations through livestreams and creators, not travel agents or Google searches. Does that click??? #Expedia’s SVP of global communications said this is “the new way of marketing” and the company is investing more in influencer marketing globally. How did we “Uganda” miss out on this young man on his Africa tour? How can we miss an opportunity that has brought itself and we waste time in useless things. It also raises an uncomfortable question for African and Caribbean tourism boards: #IShowSpeed’s Africa tour earlier this year reportedly drove massive interest, yet there was no equivalent African travel partner stepping up to formalise that opportunity. The Caribbean through partnerships with individual island tourism authorities caught the wave. Our Africa, with all 54 countries and tourism potential, did not. Tuli awo Twasama bwasami. Things are changing so fast and am afraid we’re being left behind because of old brain people in office.

Breaking News:‼️ Ugandan Tour Operators Miss Out on Indaba Over Visa Delays A growing number of Ugandan tour operators are expressing frustration after failing to secure visas to attend the prestigious Africa's Travel Indaba in Durban, despite fulfilling all application requirements. At least 15 tour operators report that they applied for South African visas over two weeks ago, submitting all necessary documentation and making full payments for accommodation, air tickets, exhibition stands, and visa fees. However, as the event kicks off tomorrow, none of them have received their visas or any official communication regarding the delays. While reports indicate that South Africa is no longer withholding applicants’ passports during the visa process, affected applicants say the lack of feedback and transparency has left them stranded and facing significant financial losses. Additionally, no refunds have been issued for the failed visa applications. The Indaba, one of Africa’s leading tourism trade fairs, attracts international buyers and wholesalers from over 50 countries. @UgandaMFA

Before commencing our documentation tour in Rubirizi District today morning, we held a productive engagement with the Deputy CAO, Dr Esau Mulongo, to explore practical ways of positioning Rubirizi as one of Uganda’s outstanding tourism destinations. His deep understanding of the district’s tourism potential, heritage and opportunities reflects true leadership and commitment toward sustainable destination growth. With key tourism stakeholders, accommodation facilities and development partners coming on board, the vision is clear to build an inclusive tourism sector that creates visibility, opportunities and lasting value for local communities. From the breathtaking landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park to the renowned chimpanzee tracking experience in Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve, crater lakes and other hidden attractions, Rubirizi District continues to stand out as a destination rich in natural beauty and untapped potential.

Tourism development begins when destinations move beyond simply having attractions and start building deliberate strategies around visibility, experience, partnerships and investment. Rubirizi District is one of Uganda’s most naturally gifted regions, home to spectacular crater lake landscapes and an important section of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Our recent engagements in the district revealed not only the beauty and potential of the area but also the growing commitment by local leaders and stakeholders to position Rubirizi as a competitive tourism destination. The Government’s increase of tourism funding from UGX 10 million to UGX 500 million presents a timely opportunity for districts to rethink tourism as a serious economic sector capable of driving jobs, investment, business growth and community transformation. Discussions with Mr. @wekesa_amos around partnering with @RwenzoriMarathn further highlighted the importance of leveraging major tourism events to increase visitor numbers, promote longer stays and create wider regional impact through accommodation, experiences and destination exposure. With proper planning, strategic marketing, strong partnerships and intentional storytelling, Rubirizi district has the potential to become more than a tourist destination. The potential is already there and as a destination marketing agency,we set off including @WasswaEmma_ ,@Jannie_jennah and @OumaJr256 for the next 2 days within the district to document the hidden gems What matters now is how well it is structured, promoted and sustained. Stay turned for more updates #ExplorerUganda
