This is spot on. At Opus, we treat AI as another tool in the toolbox to help us solve problems for our customers and delight them along the way
James Gettinger@chess_is_ok

AI dazzled the public with its human-like responses, and developers with its emergent abilities. In spite of the hype, it hasn't changed your life yet. Why is that? And how to invest in an era of wizardry @jamesgettinger/an-exceptional-parrot-why-ai-hasnt-changed-your-life-yet-and-how-to-invest-in-an-era-of-wizardry-fb9483adcf6" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@jamesgettinge

@housecor the biggest lift is getting your test data generated via code. after that, (assuming you have a system that can run background tasks) it should be trivial to pre-create test data and provision per test

@housecor we have a background task that is consistently creating "test orgs" that get provisioned whenever a new end to end test begins this gives us: 1. isolated tests 2. data set up codified in version control 3. fast tests since they don't have to wait for data creation

Problem: I want to write automated end-to-end tests in non-prod environments, but other employees keep changing the fake user's data, which breaks tests. Ideally I could say "Nobody can change this fake user's info because it's used for tests". How are you handling this?

I’m a big Cypress fan, so I’m shocked to say this: I just switched to @playwrightweb. Here are 16 reasons I switched: 1. WAY Faster. ~2X faster with 1 core. ~6x faster with multiple cores (uses multiple workers) 2. Tests multiple browsers in parallel. 1/5 Comparison:👇

I think the term "prop drilling" encourages React developers to overuse tools like Context and Redux. "Prop drilling" is just passing arguments down through multiple functions. That's typically no big deal. Don't let the jargon scare you into overusing global state.

What are interesting (engineering) blogs for earlier stage startups? Ones before Series B. Granted this is usually a time where many places are heads down building… but it’s also interesting to learn what works for these teams.

Announcement time! @NikAgarwal5 & I are excited to reveal what we have been up to the last few weeks: @CalicaXYZ. Our mutual belief in the primitives of programmable blockchains & their ability to solve real world use cases drove us to work together & leave our previous roles.
