@jeffwindt signing a contract for his commentary on 2 Peter-Jude in the P&R Reformed Expository Series with @RDP4Christ. We'll be on the lookout for this book to be available next year from P&R.

Congratulations Jeff!

English

@strongodors I read it both before and after becoming a parent. Hit hard the first time, much harder the second!

@GeoffTGleason Not trying to nitpick at all, just seeking clarity on a tweet that was confusing. Not assuming anything one way or the other about you, just interacting. Take care, brother.
English

@jeffwindt My bad again. Just seems like you’re nitpicking. I’ll say it again: true Xian obedience requires a heart of worship to God. However, we still use the word obey do we not? Like with our kids? I’ll leave it there Jeff. If you don’t want to assume the best you don’t have to.
English

@GeoffTGleason Wow. Not trying to win anything. And I'm not sure we're on the same page. The paragraph of WCF you quoted says that external-only obedience is sinful. I understand it to be saying that not murdering is better than murdering. That doesn't equal obedience.
English

@jeffwindt I see. Good one. You got me there. You win. Let me try it this way. You ever tell your kids to obey you without all the qualifications you’re asking me to provide in a tweet?
English

@GeoffTGleason I asked an honest question, you said I took all the fun out of a tweet, so I assumed you were joking. All good, brother.
English

@GeoffTGleason How can mere external obedience be in any sense obedience? Don't the commandments have duties required, the neglect of which is disobedience?
English

@jeffwindt Ah. Well, legalism is not true obedience, because for it to be true obedience a deed must be done for the glory of God, according to the commands, out of love and gratitude for him. However, if you don’t commit adultery you have in a sense obeyed the 7th commandment.
English

@GeoffTGleason Thanks for clarifying. "You can obey without believing" sounds like you were affirming that you can obey without faith. Is legalism really obedience?
English

@jeffwindt Of course not. But just as Paul said his righteousness under the law was blameless (Phil. 3:6), so people can be externally obedient without a heart of worship to God.
English

@MeltonDuncan I could listen to the sweet sounds of Keith Jackson reading a phone book.

@ReformTheoSem Words cannot express how thankful I am to God for @RTSCharlotte and the tremendous impact the faculty there made in my education and in my life!

@rotaylor Gotcha–I was thinking about how the gospel influences a culture (ideally) in certain ways for the better as opposed to a lack of gospel influence degrading a culture, e.g. a non-racist 'culture' is 'superior' to a racist culture...
English

@jeffwindt Lol. She was saying that the belief that one nation/ethnicity/race’s culture was superior to another is not of God, but rooted in pagan beliefs.
