WATCH: From Golden Slippers to Melbourne Cups, Extreme Choice is in the rarest of air. Despite limited numbers - one in every 25 runners is a G1 winner, giving Extreme Choice the highest G1 winners-to-runners strike rate in the world - while his first three sons to stand at stud have already sired Stakes performers in their first crops. @NewgateFarm will offer the strongest group of Extreme Choice yearlings ever assembled - a quarter of his 2024 foal crop - at next week's 2026 Inglis Easter Sale. We recently visited this generational stallion and previewed his colts and fillies bound for Riverside Stables.

Australia has lost a true icon. Three time Melbourne Cup champion Makybe Diva has passed following a sudden battle with colic. For 27 years she was loved by owner Tony Santic and adored by a nation. More than a racehorse, she was heart, history and pride in motion.

WATCH: From a $120,000 #InglisPremier yearling to one of the most revered Australian-bred stallions this century, the story of Starspangledbanner is extraordinary - and far from finished. In 2025, the son of Choisir and Gold Anthem sired two Cartier Award winners: Champion 2YO Colt Gstaad and Champion 2YO Filly Precise. This rare international feat was achieved some 15 years after Starspangledbanner became the first Australian horse to be crowned European Champion Sprinter. On the eve of the 2026 Premier Yearling Sale, we revisit the remarkable rise of this dual hemisphere champion. @RosemontStud @CoolmoreAus @coolmorestud @MaluaRacing

Still a few more fabricated posts to correct before the “animal welfare” activists disappear for another 363 days… (while we carry on actually caring for horses!). The CPR Deathwatch list of “175 racing deaths” contains: • Several horses that are still alive • Dozens that died from colic or illness • Several horses that died from freak accidents such as traveling or swimming • and several listed as ‘unidentified’ The rate of fatality in Victoria, which RV transparently publish in their Annual Report (unlike some other states)… is 0.5/1000 starts, so 99.95% of racing is completed safely. We’d all love it to be zero and hundreds of millions is being spend globally on equine safety research for this exact reason.

DISGRACE THAT STOPS A NATION 🛑 175 dead horses. According to the annual DeathWatch report from @hrseracingkills, released last Tuesday, one horse died on average every two days during the 2024/2025 racing season. 85 horses died following gruesome and painful injuries to their front limbs, including fractures to the humerus, carpus, knee and sesamoid bone. 12 horses collapsed and died from confirmed heart attacks, while another 9 horses collapsed and died from unconfirmed causes. Other deaths resulted from hind limb injuries, shoulder and pelvis fractures, post-race colic, internal bleeding and 10 fatal incidents of which the cause of death remains undisclosed. There’s no excuse for causing significant injury, pain and suffering to horses - especially when the only justification is entertainment and gambling. Please join us this year in saying Nup to the Cup and come along to our rally at Sydney's Martin Place today from 12pm to 2pm. #NuptotheCup #AnimalRights #AnimalWelfare #AJP #AnimalJusticeParty #Horses #MelbourneCup #HorseRacing #SpringCarnival

Buckaroo finished last in the G1 Melbourne Cup, but he’s back in his stall looking comfortable. Stewards have reported he had an episode of EIPH - blood from the lungs that can show at the nostrils. It’s uncommon, seen across high-intensity equine sports, and horses typically recover well. Read more about EIPH here: kickup.com.au/why-do-horses-… @cwallerracing
