My Tuesday: 6.30am - schooled first OTT of the day “Isleham Village”, 5yo Yulong homebred by Grunt who was flown back from Singapore. 8.30am - into the office, replied to enquiries regarding rehoming a Yulong horse, contacted a retrainer to let her know a horse we’d discussed was being kept and retired to Yulong to safe guard his future. 4pm - organised a recently retired horse’s trip to Yulong’s pretraining farm to start his retraining process. 5.30pm - schooled second Yulong OTT “Strong Trade”, 4yo by Written Tycoon. 6.30pm - open social media to be told we have no rehoming initiative and don’t care about retired horses 🤦🏼‍♀️ Anyway, if you are genuinely interested in a Yulong off-the-track horse, hit me up at our very existent rehoming email: rehoming@yulonginvest.com.au 📸 My two much-loved Yulong boys 💚

@kategoodrich These horses are definitely not “literal babies.” Stallions reach sexual maturity at 4 (which is when these two will start breeding) but are capable of doing so earlier in the wild. Fillies are sexually mature at 18 months but are also left until 4YO for breeding.

Alright here’s my hot take on this….. The racing authorities want to talk a big horse welfare game…. They have the power to bring in a rule that a stud cannot serve mares until he turns 5 years old & reaches maturity. These horses are literally babies. They won’t though, because money equals power in this game.

Times like these I wish I was a horse 🙈
