Continued inaction & backtracking from @scotgov means that Scotland’s cultural landscape is at risk of collapse.
It's repeatedly promised to address arts underfunding, pledging “at least £100M more annually” by 2028-9: just 0.17% of current budget.

What a week - As well as being part of the original YMI team at CS, I have benefited from being a tutor & project coordinator through projects funded by YMI. I’ve supported orgs to apply. This has massive impact on the sector & our young people.

The stated Scot Gov funding shortfall for Creative Scotland's Open Fund (closing end of Aug) is £3m
That's 0.005% of the SG budget. Five ONE-THOUSANDTHS of One Percent.
Closing the Open Fund will devastate artists and *instantly* increase inequality in the arts.

It’s incredibly hard to get your head around just how many people this is going to impact. Individuals don’t just apply for funding for themselves, it’s to support others to work with them too. This is going to have a damning ripple effect across the sector.

@HeatherParryUK @scotgov I 100% agree with you - CS isn't perfect but it is full of really passionate creative people who are trying their best with a government who won't listen or support the work. It is a shambles for all of us in the culture sector.

There is no one to blame for this but the govt. I have watched as Creative Scotland heads and staff have repeatedly, for the last three years, practically begged for proper funding.
This will be devastating for artists in this country and the government simply do not care.
