We lose the habit of reading because we’re afraid of wasting our time. We think we need to be productive and “on the go” at all times. But people are not machines, and you are nourished by naps and fiction and basking in sunlight, no less than by food and drink.

We are having pasta for dinner tonight - plain for the kids, broccoli Alfredo for me, and meat sauce for the husband. So it got me thinking - which one do you like best? We all agree on D in this house.

My kid before dinner: I'm starving, I need a snack. My kid during dinner: I'm full, I can't eat. My kid after dinner: I'm starving, I need a snack. Repeat forever.
