@chairthrower I won't wear full tights for ANY athletics. Most I will do is capris + leg warmers/calf sleeves. There's something about the minor inhibition that even the lightest spandex puts on flexion and extension of my leg that makes me feel wonky in any sport. There's something to this.

@jenniever But I'm realizing I've basically never ridden a bike with completely unrestricted knees. I think it's not necessary to call it a neurosis, it could be just a sensory thing. My brain has to process the inputs, so there's less brain pushing the pedals.

A thing I have recently found that is a revelation to me are short inseam (5") men's cycling shorts. Normal shorts come down to or below my knees; these shorts fit like normal cycling shorts do on most people. I had my fastest ride of the year today with them on.

@chairthrower What about neurotic ones? I feel like my free knee obsession does border on neurosis...

@jenniever It seems logical, but I can't find any peer-reviewed studies to this effect. Or even anecdotal ones.

@chairthrower Free knees = faster biking. It's 100% true.

I'm perfectly willing to admit it might be mental, but that doesn't mean it's not real.
