The frontline nurses are not the issue. We’ve met some of the best humans on earth in those roles. The hospital is not fit for purpose and the trauma it is causing to the families in Limerick and it’s surrounds far out weighs the care it gives.

She passed 10 weeks after her eventual diagnosis. My dad then spent much of 2023 in UHL. He walked in with a kidney infection. After 3 months of “care” in a general ward he came out unable to walk and on dialysis.

It should not be for the families of patients to advocate for their care. I have always regretted not pushing for a scan for my mum. I should not have had to - I should have been able to trust the hospital. Instead her cancer diagnosis was delayed over 6 months.
