Croatian F/C Michael Ružić has been receiving interest from Kentucky, per reports.
But it sounds like BYU is leading to land the 7’ Big Man. LSU, Arizona State also mentioned to me.
“BYU has been in on him since last year”
Will be tough for Coach Pope to out-pitch some of these programs offering starting spots/Money.
ACB Stats:
• 5.1p, 3.4r, 16mpg.
BCL Stats:
7.4p, 3.6r, 18mpg.
International Scout on him:
“I mean Ružić is one of the better available pickups right now. Playing some of the highest level of competition in the world and showing flashes especially as of late. Has been an NBA Prospect since he was 18. 7 footer with a jumper and great mobility, you can play him as a backup 5, or as a starting 4. If you have money left to spend he’s probably one of the best players you can spend it on”

This could have big ramifications for BYU’s big man search. BYU is already talking to a bunch of international targets, could layer graduated seniors on top of it

If 5-in-5 is happening next month the portal is about to come to a standstill. No point in signing players right now when you potentially have an entire pool of seniors to choose from.

@TheBYUFlash Remember when 247 had Richie as 100% to Kentucky.

@collinsworth55 Player swap except BYU ends up with both players.

@erc95 These off ball screens are crazy. So many open 3s in the first 5 minutes!

@JknowsBBall Good insight on Branch. Rob Wright said he's hoping to be back at BYU. That could really help Branch, as he wouldn't need to initiate offense and could focus on cutting and shooting.

MY FIRST 2027 NBA DRAFT BOARD IS LIVE
A lottery-focused piece built around projected returners.
This is more of a high-level complementary draft early on but a strong one. With a few developmental swings, clear star trajectories should emerge.
I wrote nearly 5,000 words on this—hope you enjoy.
Questions are welcome, and retweets are appreciated.

@ryanhammer09 He didn't get much playing time on the Canadian U19 team last summer. Needs to find a way to get on the court and learn. A good mid-major program should pick him up.

"How do you not play a 7'9" kid at all?"
Florida's system is too fast for him & if they were to play him they would have to change their style when he does play.
Confident that he can play a ton at the right spot. Might be a high mid major. Either way, happy to see him find a place to play

@collinsworth55 How concerned should I be with the 50% 2P% last year?

@rtmccombs "And let’s be honest — AJ is coming back. Don’t keep that thought in your mind."

@Sam_Vecenie @GameTheorySamV To give more context to that first shot, Diamonde (#24 in the corner) is shooting 13% from 3 on the season. AJ's tough jumper is a better shot than a wide open 3 for Diamonde. BYU's 3 point shooters got injured (Saunders and Baker) and that forced AJ to make tough decisions.

Did a full video on AJ Dybantsa on @GameTheorySamV. Broke down his tape vs. Texas for an hour.
Ultimately, AJ showed so much of his best along with plenty of warts. But I think where I'm at is his great moments are truly great and his flaws are the most fixable of the top guys.

Yes. Absolutely zero question that the answer is yes. And the most obvious proof is Bruce Branch III committing to BYU.
Dybantsa playing at BYU and having the season he had is going to pay so many long-term dividends for BYU even if the Saunders injury cratered this season.
Brian Drake@DrakeFantasy
BYU paid $7 million to AJ Dybantsa. He led the nation in scoring. Cool. They finished 10th in the Big 12 and were a 6-seed in the NCAA Tournament after losing a key guard to injury. They lost to an 11-seed Texas team that finished 10th in the SEC. Is that NIL $ well spent?
