@EmilyJBarley @HHFTnhs My stance is that in all of the other elements on the birth stats the correct medical terminology is used. So why the adjustment for death?
No other area of NHS reporting would use euphemisms.

Describing babies who died as being 'born sleeping' is a 'gentle term' according to @HHFTnhs.
I am lost for words.
Gentle for who????? I have to wonder if it's staff who like this term, particularly when there has been negligence...?

@MartynPitman @drruthannharpur Had a reply to my complaint about the infographic and sleeping babies from a Mary Kearney who doesn’t give her title. The 2nd para makes for shocking reading IMO. And I’m asked if I’d like to suggest “less offensive” language 😳
