@EmilyJBarley @HHFTnhs My stance is that in all of the other elements on the birth stats the correct medical terminology is used. So why the adjustment for death? No other area of NHS reporting would use euphemisms.

Describing babies who died as being 'born sleeping' is a 'gentle term' according to @HHFTnhs. I am lost for words. Gentle for who????? I have to wonder if it's staff who like this term, particularly when there has been negligence...?
