@SkyNews Absolutely this screening is needed and should happen. I’ve just been diagnosed after 2 PSA tests then an MRI scan which showed a possible cancer, then a biopsy which proved it was, then a PET scan which showed it hasn’t spread. I am so fortunate and grateful for all those tests.

Really good comment below a Guardian article about SEND provision in schools. I've seen this happening at my kids' school and I know the problems are even worse at many other schools. Naturally, since it goes against The Narrative, and what was said above the line, it didn't get a Guardian Pick gold star from the moderators.

I wouldn’t the person I am today without my SEN school. Same with my friends. Fully trained specialist staff in dealing with autism and learning disabilities. A quiet, calm supportive environment. I had just 12 people in my class. The government MUST build more.

Having listened to @bphillipsonMP 's media rounds today I am sadly more convinced than ever that she has no grasp of SEND. When speaking to a caller on @LBC whose child was non verbal, Bridget went off on a tangent about children developing at different rates. She has no idea. 1/2

Labour’s SEND reforms depend on mainstream schools boosting provision, yet their plan for 6,500 more teachers ignores the already stretched SENCO workforce. This may be because Labour have now removed primary teachers from their plan...or it would reveal there are 400 fewer.

More SEND training isn’t going to help. We could have all the training in the world and one teacher still wouldn’t be able to do everything that needs to be done to properly teach every student in a mixed class. More time. More teachers. More TAs. More SEND schools. More £.

Some SEN children can succeed in a mainstream school but plenty can’t. Some need unit provision, some need specialist provision, some need extended day, some need EOTAS/EOTIS. That’s the point. All children are different. Trying to fit everybody into mainstream cannot work #SEN

With the announcement of the schools white paper, of course our first thought is the children. But I can’t help thinking about SENDCOs. The workload is already relentless. Without protected time, proper support and real funding, these reforms risk piling even more onto a role

The White Paper has landed and lots of focus on SEND/ Trusts but less discussion about how we deliver these things with a workforce that is slowly fleeing the profession. What is actually going to be done of substance to make the job more attractive, sustainable and rewarding.
