I am deeply uninterested in opinions about teaching or schools if those opinions are coming from someone who is not a teacher in a school.

Y11: You must never have free time to revise independently! You must have a subject teacher in front of you constantly! Get back into another revision lesson! Y12: Why can’t you cope with free periods? Why do you have no independent study skills? 🤯

@adamboxer1 There are many systemic inequalities. Totally understand the “keep them in until their last exam” mentality and it’s my preference. It’s also not a surprise many then falter in Y12 and can’t manage their “free time” effectively.

Parents who say teachers should shut up about their job conditions are wild. These people are in charge of your children 40 hours a week and you don’t want them rested, regulated, happy and healthy?

The decrease in alcohol use among teens correlates with a decrease in socializing, an increase in time spent alone, and worsening mental health.

As a certified teacher I’d quit before I had to change 5 year old’s diaper, unless I was a special education teacher. Can you even imagine to potential for abuse charges here? All it would take is one kindergartner to go home and say the teacher touched my privates. No way.

This school board just unanimously voted that toilet training other people's children is now a staff responsibility at their public schools. Not kids who need special accommodations. ALL the kids. What is a parent's job now exactly? What can parents reliably be expected to do?

The elephant in the room is surely whether or not Ofsted can/should inspect something we do in our spare time as unpaid volunteers. Would a school be judged as Causing Concern or Attention Needed if not enough staff volunteer to run enrichments in their spare time?
Tes magazine@tes

Schools now have less than a term to introduce the DfE’s new enrichment entitlement before Ofsted begins inspecting it – but the chief executive of @DRETnews has some tips to help with delivery tes.com/magazine/analy…

Teaching year 11 chemistry this morning. Majority of students out for their geography exam, and several have computer science this afternoon. I'm not sure what is being achieved by having year 11s in regular lessons at this time of year, for students or staff.

@abunchoflions 90% of the time I wish we had separate middle schools, but then 10% of time in any given school year, Year 9 are (often unintentionally) the most hilarious people I know, so 🤷🏼‍♀️🤯

Randomly accusing people of sounding like AI because they used an em dash or a complete sentence is such a fascinating new brand of anti-intellectualism. Sorry, I write like someone who paid attention in English class. Because I did.

I wanted to run the London Marathon but training takes too long and is too hard as a pudgy 47yo woman, so I got an Uber to the finish line. It's not fair that athletic people get to gatekeep long-distance running. I'm still a Marathon runner! This is what AI 'writers' sound like

@BarkerLeadershp I was agreeing with you. If a strike doesn’t inconvenience/disrupt the employer/system, it’s pointless.

‘I hope their school deals with them!’ lmao schools are generally pretty good at recognising when a random shit-stirrer with an agenda is deliberately trying to cause problems for their valued staff but sure good luck with that 😂😂😂
