@antifawokesoros @PatMcAfeeShow @CoachCalArk Nigga you sound stupid. Arizona plays slow ball, he’s going to try and speed up the game. Arkansas is number 1 in fast breaks, that’s going to be the gameplan. Dumb of you to forget Arkansas is missing two key players this entire tourney

I am also not defending CMP, but the fact is the SEC is a DRAMATICALLY more difficult conf thanks to Calipari’s dominance in the 2010s. The quality of coaching from top to bottom is also ridiculously better. There are no gimme games in the SEC anymore, especially away games.
Steven Peake@StevenPeakeKSR

I have been critical of Mark Pope but these numbers are interesting. From 2010 through 2017 UK competed against 11 ranked SEC teams. Pope has competed against 12 in his first two seasons.

This context is important. That OBVIOUSLY isn’t to say that getting 9th in the SEC is “acceptable” long term or all of the other necessary caveats. However, it’ll NEVER be like it used to be in the SEC again. We simply aren’t comparing apples-to-apples in terms of competition.

Utah St. pushed Arizona. Missed so many good looks on three pointers late. Biggest concern for the Hogs is making sure Zona's big men don't wreck game. Krivas is 7-2 260 and very active. Awaka is another big body 6-8 250. Can't discount the Acuff factor !!!

Eh, I don’t really think that’d be a fair comparison either. KenPom’s SEC rating during Cal’s first two years: 2010: 12.63 2011: 9.49 KenPom’s SEC rating during Pope’s first two years: 2025: 22.09 2026: 19.57 The strength of the SEC has doubled over the past 15 years, but still don’t care for Pope making the comparison

@aaiceman20 @KySportsRadio If Pope wants to compare his start to Cal, he needs to compare it to Cal’s start. Can’t just pick and choose the worst years to make yourself look better.

Mark Pope on his radio show compares Kentucky the last two years to Kentucky the four years prior
Keith Taylor@keithtaylor21

Pope says Cats haven't met goals, but making progress. ... "I'm not talking about meeting the standard of where we're trying to get. Clearly, we did not do that, but we are making progress in in the four years before we got here, we won one game in Nashville. In the last two years, we've won three games in Nashville, and clearly the seed hasn't been a good as good. But in the last two years, we lost to the number five and the number six team in the country to be to be put out of the SEC tournament. "In the four years previous, we lost to number nine, number 35 number 67 and number 81 to be knocked out of the SEC tournament. In the last two years, we've won three games in the NCAA Tournament. In the previous four years, we won one game total in the NCAA Tournament. That doesn't tell the whole story, but for the people that love Kentucky, they just want to know that we're making progress. Those are real hard, solid numbers that may be surprising. Go look them up. The winning percentage is higher. The NCAA Tournament success is higher. The strength of schedule is ridiculously more difficult, and all of that done in the context of having one of the most unfortunate health trends in the history of Kentucky basketball. And so in those sense, senses like we haven't met our goals, clearly, but we are making progress in that part of society. And I really bring that up because I think at times, our guys feel like, man, everybody says this is the worst it's ever been. It's not. "We're actually making positive project. We're making positive progress by the numbers and and I'm grateful for the work and the commitment of our guys, and we're going to keep going. And the thing is, we have to keep getting better and better and better as we as we grow this program to the point where we're actually hanging a banner. And this is all part of the process, and we have nothing in our offices, in our locker room besides hope and excitement for the future."

This is the game of the sweet 16. This is the game of the tournament. Hell maybe the game of the decade.

Updated it for you. According to KenPom, they’ve analytically been worse the past couple weeks, yet somehow they’re getting more hype. Another stat, every champion the past 25 years has been top 21 in KenPom defense with a DRtg under 92.1. Arkansas is 53rd at 101.9. Could they make a final 4 run? I don’t think so, but maybe. Are they winning the chip? No

Arkansas is a 7.5-pt underdog vs. Arizona in the Sweet 16 — it was as high as +9.5… In 85 total NCAA Tournament games, this is tied for John Calipari’s biggest line as an underdog (+7.5 w/ UMass in 1996 Semifinal)
