With cars there's the cheapest and the most expensive models. A single model can range from 40k to 100k when new, depending on its spec. Top model means a better drivetrain (4 wheel drive, not just two wheel), a more powerful engine (more horsepower), probably some performative electrification (an electric motor increases both the acceleration and the delivery of that acceleration), etc. This Pegueot you shared above has all of that and more, it's a top model. Look at the price of the cheapest of that model for comparison.. Also that might be brand new, meaning with little to no kilometers on it. With Audi's there's the RS which is the top version of a model and it's always loads more expensive..

Who want to buy an 8 year old car only to face a 12k bill in two years for a new battery, by then the cars value isn't even worth the price of the battery.

However with EVs, warranties are much longer. Many EVs now have 100 of thousands of miles on clock with less maintenance such as timing belts etc.

Geraldine Herbert did a piece on it recently and difference was tiny and only slightly better for EV if home charging. Plus must commit to more expensive showers & cooking via smart tarriff.

@RuaidhriOC There is no one answer. Fuel protest definitely played a part. Going from Phibsboro to Aviva was awkward with protests and definitely fewer cars on the road. Aviva fatigue for a 2nd game in two weeks, Sale not an attractive game for the neutral and ticket prices all factors
