@DrNeilStone The problem is the system is time served based rather than competency based. Some might need longer, some might have extended experience prior to starting ST training and need less. Some LTFT might achieve competence if focused enough but require years of box ticking to CCT

I think specialty training for doctors in the UK is too long. Not medical school - 5 years is fine - but postgraduate specialty training is wayyyy too long

@drcolinm But some of the changes proposed are eye popping. Take this one. Yes, this really is the Director of Education & Standards of the GMC no less seriously suggesting we can bin much of the content of UK medical schools because doctors can alway use their smartphones. 7/n

@ShivaniM_KC Couldn’t agree more! I’m still an ST4 (qualified 13 years) as our eldest has CP, visually impaired and hydrocephalus. My career took the hit. Husband does private work largely to make up for my terrible salary. Be nice if we both got paid our worth. We don’t feel well off.

Re Junior Doctor strikes, the 'if you don't like it, get another job / go elsewhere' crowd need to rapidly learn that doctors are doing exactly that. It's (partly) why you struggle to see a GP, or it takes months to see a specialist. We simply do not have enough of them.

We are very proud to be a fully independent prep school and we ensure that every year 8 leaver moves on to the most suited senior school for them (many with scholarships in a wide variety of areas). This image shows the range of prestigious schools for just this year alone!
