Everyone wants the government to help and yes the government needs to reform excise but what about the crazy decisions made by executives of these companies?

@CalyxTrichomes @qnp @CannaStarsPod You don’t see $20m in data fees or you chose to ignore their fees because going against them to too hard given they are too big so better focus on the little independents who are not doing as well as you.

If you focused on the retailers why not recognize that together we can counteract this low margin market play by levelling the playing field. Then they will be force to move up margins

@highlandkw @CalyxTrichomes @qnp @CannaStarsPod Also one of the pub co had $20m in data fees. I don’t hear any criticism or comment towards them but yet again 2 of the top Ontario stores decide to focus their attention on the independents when they are independents. Strength in numbers.

@jessedhami @CalyxTrichomes @qnp @CannaStarsPod A few kickbacks on slow moving products isn't going to save you from value chains to extort over 10% margin from the big LP's and subsidize their entire lineup with it selling 25% lower than indi's. It's disingenuous to tell indi's this will save them - we all need to wake up!

@highlandkw @CalyxTrichomes @qnp @CannaStarsPod But try increasing your margins when the big chains are running such low margins. It is interesting that the voice against working together is the profitable high volume stores instead of the independent stores who are struggling. Maybe talk to your fellow independent stores.

The big chains use their weight to demand $ just to get on the shelves of X# of stores in their chain. Meanwhile indi's get offered a few $'s on products that aren't moving. We would all be better off if product was just cheaper!

Again you have a very profitable store but what are your solutions for the independents. How do they compete against the chains. As an industry we independents need to work together.

@jessedhami @qnp @CannaStarsPod I’m not a pubco but I carry a mixture of everything (large pubcos and small micros). I put weed that has been in our possession for a month on sale.

Its about LPs moving old weed.
I don’t give a shit what other retailers do, if you need to take a kickback that sucks, but that’s your prerogative.
I care about brand erosion of the products I do carry and the health of the industry generally.
When products show up on those lists they are the bargain bin.

@CalyxTrichomes @qnp @CannaStarsPod The health of the industry is that independents are dying and can’t survive. You are good as one of the top stores in Ontario. But not everyone like you. The others can’t keep the doors open which is what the pubco value chains want

@CalyxTrichomes @qnp @CannaStarsPod Which is a benefit for all. Not everyone is in your position being one of the top stores in Ontario. Too many are closing because they can’t compete with the low margin chains. And having chains run this industry with select independents is not good for the industry.

@brishnaka @drowbb @DSutton1986 I agree with this. I was mainly referring to the public companies on the CCA list. How much did Eve & Co and Choom raise from the retail investors? Millions and millions. The trust in the industry has been ruined by the executives that ran these companies.

@jessedhami @drowbb @DSutton1986 Not necessarily applicable to small private companies. Many companies are struggling mainly bcz of excise. You have to decide at times whether to pay staff or CRA excise bills.
