I’m glad to be returning to work following a serious medical emergency. On December 22 I had a sudden cardiac arrest in my living room. My heart stopped for 20 minutes. Five days later, it happened again in the hospital. I received more than 50 defibrillator shocks over several hours until my condition stabilized.
Thanks to the heroic efforts of first responders, the medical team at Inova Health, and bystander CPR, I survived. Against all odds I’m well on my way to a full recovery.
I’ve been uplifted by the steadfast support of my family, friends, and Bloomberg colleagues as I’ve healed. I feel incredibly lucky to be back to doing work I love. I am hopeful this up close and personal experience with the health care system will make me a better reporter. Let's catch up!

Total silence. Follow-ups: “Are you not running for reelection because that’s an admission of guilt?” “Is @realMikeLindell going to take your seat?” “Are you guilty?” No response. No denial - just a quick exit. Walz already bailed on reelection amid billions in questioned funds. Silence speaks volumes. Minnesotans deserve answers, not dodges!

This proposal by Idaho Governor Brad Little is unacceptable.
HCBS are already insufficiently funded. Cutting these services further, even by a small amount, would be “apocalyptic” for disabled people and the families who depend on them.

I just found out that @AnthemBCBS is denying my little sister's 2nd CAR T-cell therapy for her cancer, saying that they only do one per patient per lifetime. Yet, this is the only treatment option available to her given that she's had a bone marrow transplant and a different version of CAR T-cell therapy, but given the cost of the procedure, they would rather deny it and save themselves money versus giving her life-saving treatment. Something is severely broken in our healthcare system if we pay for it and the health insurance companies can make purely financial decisions for denying treatment, especially for cancer patients. Her doctors have appealed TWICE and been denied, is there anybody at @AnthemBCBS that can help get approval for her CAR-T treatment?

This is such a weird turn of events. Interim final rule issued, receives 19,000 comments (!!!) Va secretary says the rule just states what has been longstanding practice, but won't enforce the rule anyway due to the backlash? And then rescinds it.

The VA issued an interim final rule 8 days ago allowing it to consider the effects of medication when rating veterans’ disabilities. This means benefits could be reduced if medication improves a disability. The rule has already received 19,000 public comments (!!!!)

NEW: Florida’s Department of Health filed emergency rules that will cut about 12,000 people off from their HIV/AIDS medication starting Sunday.
The state filed the rules one day before a legal hearing challenging the state's cuts.
