Thanks to NOAA's Kenneth Howard for pointing me to this NOAA weather radar data showing a debris cloud exactly over my estimated Starship reentry point!

@planet4589 Thank you for the tip on IROSA FSE. I plugged the TLEs from Celestrack into Stellarium and it was in a totally different part of the sky during yesterday's pass. Still a mystery how this tool bag got so bright.

@jfgout Not offhand. You could check the TLEs of some of the other ISS released objects like the IROSA FSE 57212...

Just saw the tool bag dropped by astronauts on the ISS. Much brighter than expected, and 1 minute ahead of schedule based on TLE from CelesTrack. It also looks like 2 other tumbling objects are on a similar orbit. Wondering if @planet4589 has more info.

@cgbassa Can't wait for the next one! With better preparation, I could have gotten much better images. Of course, next time will probably be on the other side of Earth, or worse: on a cloudy night! Thanks again for sharing the information.

@cgbassa @ulalaunch And here is a picture taken with C8 F/7 + canon 6d. That was about 40 minutes after the start of venting. I did not get the telescope ready in time for the best part 😦

@landrychristian Our seminar series will be online (maybe that's my chance to "invite" you...) with some time for discussions. One option I like for Q&A is people typing Qs in chat during seminar and moderator reading the Qs at the end.

@loganwcole Well, to answer the question in the tweet: no, that person does not sound smart to me :p

@HailState845 @matt_laubhan Sorry, meant to say: "taken an hour earlier, from Starkville (Chapel Hill)". Stupid tired brain. Was only ~15 minutes drive from home, which is probably about 1 hour on a tricycle :p

@jfgout @matt_laubhan Were you on a tricycle? Chapel Hill is about 9-10 miles outside of Stark

Can you spot the comet Neowise in the storm tonight? Photo taken an hour away from Starkville (Chapel Hill Road) @matt_laubhan

@astrochic73 @matt_laubhan Location was just random pullout on the side of the road. Would not recommend for family. Comet barely visible naked eye. Best spots for comet are North of Starkville to clear halo of light pollution. Went to Oktibbeha county lake July 18th, was great, comet easy naked eye.

Here in Santiago, Chile to cover the #eclipse in @capitalweather. Half a million extra visitors — or more —were expected, and here they are. I measured the line at 1.1 miles long.

@MatthewCappucci What's the confidence level? How about Argentina (Bella Vista area)? ECNWF, GFS and ARPEGE all say clear, but I'm still stressed. Thanks!

#Eclipse watchers: If we can see it Tuesday – and we likely will – thank the weather gods bigtime. The jet stream is pummeling La Serena with a constant onshore flow and upper-level clouds. It clears during eclipse time Tuesday, and then back to clouds. We are so, so lucky.

@ydnadydnad Thanks! I'm having trouble visualization solar North on Stellarium. Is the North/South solar axis perpendicular to the ecliptic?

@predsci Not sure how to interpret the "Terrestrial North up". Will the two lobes be roughly in line with the ecliptic? I'd like to know how to frame my pictures (camera orientation on the telescope). Thanks for the help.
