@Matt_Langley11 @StanCollymore My pet hate is people referring it as Sunday League. In Oxfordshire there are no Sunday leagues but lots of Saturday football below step 6. Let’s just call it park football Oh and club Lino’s are expected to give offsides. The vast majority of them don’t cheat

@StanCollymore My issue with this change is that it may work in professional football, but in Sunday league for those refs it would be hell. Relying on club linesman to get an offside is difficult as it is, if you changed to this you may as well scrap lino at Sunday league level altogether

You make a persuasive argument Ian, but... We want goals and entertainment, and almost everyone ( including lawmakers) have given the benefit to strikers as goals are the currency of the sport. In the picture, the defenders always have a option to be goal side of a man. Always. If they aren't, tough.
Ian Turner@IanTurner_

@StanCollymore I think it could work pre VAR because common sense and “daylight” went quite well together. Now with VAR common sense on offsides isn’t allowed. This for example would be onside. (Pedros foot an Gabriels shoulder).

Good luck to all teams dealing with Amy today in the WDFA sponsored by @Hartwell_co_uk. Reckon we may see a few ‘games of two halves’?

Good afternoon! The crucial planning meeting to decide whether Oxford United can build a new stadium at the Triangle, outside Kidlington, is just getting underway. It’s at Cherwell District Council’s Banbury office and veteran councillor Barry Wood is chairing.

BREAKING: The sudden discovery of ancient woodland at Oxford United’s new stadium site, which caused the postponement of the crucial planning meeting this week, has been reversed. Natural England now says it is “withdrawing its support for Stratfield Brake as ancient woodland”.
