What is @GnosisGuild, and how does it relate to @RAILGUN_Project? Gnosis Guild is the experimental R&D wing of GnosisDAO, focused on building the infrastructure for modular, decentralized governance. Think of it as the team behind Zodiac, the plugin architecture for Safe (formerly Gnosis Safe), which lets developers build composable governance flows into multisig wallets. But their work has extended far beyond that. Gnosis Guild’s Core Stack - Zodiac: A framework for adding governance logic to Safe wallets via modules. - Enclave: Encrypted execution environments for running logic off-chain and in private. - Mech: A way to turn NFTs into programmable smart accounts (ERC-721s that act like EOAs). - Pilot: A browser-native simulation and relayer tool to batch and preview multi-call transactions, protecting users from frontrunning and optimizing gas. Together, these tools form a modular governance and execution layer for DAOs and on-chain organizations. Enter RAILGUN and Zero-Knowledge Privacy RAILGUN is an EVM-compatible privacy protocol using zk-SNARKs to encrypt balances and transactions. It introduces 0zk addresses (shielded wallets that split viewing and spending keys) so interactions remain private but verifiable if needed. In 2023, Gnosis Guild and RAILGUN teamed up to launch Access Cards, a Zodiac module that allows private control of Safes via shielded NFTs. You could trigger a Safe transaction from a shielded address without revealing your identity on-chain, a major leap for DAO privacy and compliance. What Changed in 2025? ($RAIL + Mech Integration) In Proposal 13 (2025), Gnosis Guild began integrating Mech and Pilot directly into RAILGUN’s stack. Here’s the privacy-enhancing flow in practice: Typical Flow (before): 1. Unshield tokens to a relay contract. 2. Prove the inputs off-chain with zk-proofs. 3. Execute on-chain transaction (e.g., swap on Uniswap). 4. Reshield the output to your 0zk address. Problem: This only works for atomic transactions. New Flow with Mech + Pilot (For non-atomic, multi-step operations (e.g., Lido unstakes, Aave borrows), Mech acts as a privacy-preserving smart account): 1. Prove ownership of a shielded Mech NFT. 2. Unshield assets to Mech’s public 0x address. 3. Simulate and batch transactions using Pilot. 4. Relay the multi-call. 5. Reshield the Mech NFT and all assets/output. This means even complex flows (like intent-based execution or cross-DEX strategies) remain fully private all while verifiable through zk-proofs. Why It Matters This makes RAILGUN not just a privacy layer, but a programmable, composable DeFi privacy stack. Builders now have access to: - DAO modules with built-in privacy - zk-native account abstraction (Mech NFTs) - Private execution environments (Enclave) - Simulation and relaying tools (Pilot) Institutions or DAO treasuries could theoretically route funds privately and compliantly, shielding strategies and vault operations without sacrificing modularity. tl;dr RAILGUN’s SDK lets you hook into 0zk wallets, simulate calls, and manage shielded assets with ~100–200 LoC in TS/Node. Zodiac modules make this compatible with any Safe-based multisig.
