I often tell people that after making the decision to run this channel full time, I haven't worked a day since. That's because I love doing this and it's never felt like work to me. Despite this, it turns out going several years without a day off wasn't such a good idea.
By now many of you have noticed that I've been radio silent for a couple of days. Last week I had a health scare that forced me to unplug entirely. Luckily it was nothing immediately life-threatening, but it was a wake up call that I need to make some changes.
I really appreciate all the kind messages and well wishes many of you have sent these past few days. Going forward the channel will look different than it has before. I'm still figuring out what that means exactly.

Reports are emerging that the oil tanker “Chios Lion” has been attacked in the Red Sea.
The vessel — a crude oil tanker — was reportedly struck by an explosive unmanned boat launched by Iran-backed Houthi forces, causing damage to the ship.
Initial reports indicate:
• The vessel was hit by a surface drone/explosive boat
• Damage was reported to the ship’s hull
• No immediate casualties were confirmed
The Houthis have repeatedly targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, part of a campaign that has already disrupted global trade routes and raised maritime insurance costs.
If confirmed as part of the current escalation, this would represent a major widening of the conflict — bringing global energy shipping directly into the line of fire.

Yes. Redemption is technically the same thing as selling but with that added caveat that you sell your shares directly back to the issuer, hopefully at the advertised NAV of the fund.
The technical guys might argue that redemptions should be volatility neutral, but at this point the story is feeding on itself where each redemption headline drives the next...so I'd say no, it's not volatility neutral.

I questioned the "redemptions in excess of 7%" language on the Cliffwater story this morning, saying this was deceptively worded and that it could mean anything. It didn't take long to get an answer: 14%. A lot of folks won't be getting their money out.

Overnight, an Iranian drone boat hit the cargo vessel MAYUREE NAREE BANGKOK as it tried to make a run through the strait of Hormuz.
