Cormac McCarthy’s estate is auctioning off his 1995 Lotus Esprit S4S on Hagerty Marketplace, if you’re interested. 18k miles. Highest bid is currently $2,600 (I expect it to go a good deal higher, of course). Close of auction is April 27th.

Imagine writing your dead son’s name over and over and over again, inviting others to speak it aloud again and again. A plot hinging on communing with the dead and obsessed with being *remembered*. It’s not the only thing the play’s about, but Hamlet is definitely about grief.

@jgavinpaul Yeah: I’ve read the various versions Philipp has sent me over the years. The book is finished and in production. Norton is publishing next year.

I’ve given Philipp’s book to so many people I’ve lost count. Along with Helen DeWitt’s THE LAST SAMURAI, Bolaño’s 2666, and Marilynne Robinson’s GILEAD, the best novel of the century thus far.
