jhana.ai/courtroom “An Indian Parliament or collection of Indian parliaments would produce undisguised, unqualified anarchy,” James Fitzjames Stephen declared prematurely in his Foundations of the Government of India at the dusk of the 1800s. “If the nation’s judges took no breaks for eating or sleeping and closed 100 cases per hour, it would take more than 35 years to catch up,” Bloomberg wrote audaciously about our judiciary in 2015. 142 years on, India’s courts still hold together, as does the most populous democracy in history. India’s story of growth is one of reclamation, indigeneity, and creativity. And here at jhana, we are proud to stand on the shoulders of such giants. Today, the law remains an ambitious collective project and a critical rights-based framework at the heart of the Indian state’s longevity. Thousands of courtrooms across the nation, from district Munsifs and Lok Adalats to the dome on Tilak Marg, form the central nervous system and immune response of this beating heart. On India’s 79th Independence Day, we are deeply privileged to share with you some of our proudest work: we are happy to publicly present, for the first time ever today, Courtroom by jhana. Just like a courtroom, good software is often a location, not a tool. And courtrooms are more than merely the sum of their parts. They are living, breathing institutions where memory, process, and human judgment must intersect. Every docket, every brief, every hearing is a small act in the continuous project of justice. We must listen to the people who carry this work every day — clerks, registrars, and judges. Courtroom is built in collaboration with Indian courts and registries. It is ready for the world. jhanaCourtroom is built on these ethics of care: •Care for the record; so that every order, every note, every page is where it should be. •Care for time; so that human hours can be spent on judgement, not on redundant data entry and rescanning of printed PDFs •Care for the institution; so collective wisdom flows seamlessly between generations. Happy 79th Independence Day, India! jhana.ai/courtroom #IndependenceDay #IndependenceDay2025 #Judiciary #SupremeCourt #HighCourt #judge #LegalTech
