jhana.ai/courtroom “An Indian Parliament or collection of Indian parliaments would produce undisguised, unqualified anarchy,” James Fitzjames Stephen declared prematurely in his Foundations of the Government of India at the dusk of the 1800s. “If the nation’s judges took no breaks for eating or sleeping and closed 100 cases per hour, it would take more than 35 years to catch up,” Bloomberg wrote audaciously about our judiciary in 2015. 142 years on, India’s courts still hold together, as does the most populous democracy in history. India’s story of growth is one of reclamation, indigeneity, and creativity. And here at jhana, we are proud to stand on the shoulders of such giants. Today, the law remains an ambitious collective project and a critical rights-based framework at the heart of the Indian state’s longevity. Thousands of courtrooms across the nation, from district Munsifs and Lok Adalats to the dome on Tilak Marg, form the central nervous system and immune response of this beating heart.  On India’s 79th Independence Day, we are deeply privileged to share with you some of our proudest work: we are happy to publicly present, for the first time ever today, Courtroom by jhana. Just like a courtroom, good software is often a location, not a tool.  And courtrooms are more than merely the sum of their parts. They are living, breathing institutions where memory, process, and human judgment must intersect. Every docket, every brief, every hearing is a small act in the continuous project of justice. We must listen to the people who carry this work every day — clerks, registrars, and judges. Courtroom is built in collaboration with Indian courts and registries. It is ready for the world. jhanaCourtroom is built on these ethics of care: •Care for the record; so that every order, every note, every page is where it should be. •Care for time; so that human hours can be spent on judgement, not on redundant data entry and rescanning of printed PDFs •Care for the institution; so collective wisdom flows seamlessly between generations. Happy 79th Independence Day, India! jhana.ai/courtroom #IndependenceDay #IndependenceDay2025 #Judiciary #SupremeCourt #HighCourt #judge #LegalTech

Mr. Tharoor, @ShashiTharoor— We’re not building something like that thing in Singapore, or a worse version of that thing in Europe. We’re an actual research lab. We roll our own data. And we do fundamental work. Estd. 2022, and building the future first in India. Made by the world with love.

Singapore's AI-powered legal research platform, #Lawnet, is a game-changer. Its Gen AI features allow legal professionals to conduct research more efficiently by asking questions in natural language and getting instant, sourced answers from case law and legislation. With over 5 crore cases pending, India's legal system is in urgent need of innovation. The Indian government, judiciary, and legal community must explore the possibility of a similar AI-driven platform. This could be a powerful tool to significantly reduce judicial pendency and the inordinate delays that plague our justice system. #India #JudicialReforms #Law #AIForGood #DigitalIndia

“One of my dreams with steno is to demolish this remaining alpha in the mastery of the English language.” A message from our founder, @HemanthBharatha re. jhana.ai/steno— In my early days as a competitive debater, I struggled with judges marking me down despite what I felt was better material. As an Angry Teenager, I attributed this to my fast, overenunciated second-language English. But... Over the years, I was put through pronunciation training and accent correction as I trained classically as a debater. Then I lived in America for half a decade, and at Harvard, I learned the performance of the aristocracy. Today, in my cosmopolitan accent and all-over-the-world diction, I can speak the same sentences I spoke as a teenager and hold the same views, but a priori, I am taken seriously. I am allowed access to spaces reserved from others. And I am spoken to with peerlike respect by seniors. One of my dreams with steno is to demolish this remaining alpha in the mastery of the English language. Seniors and firms obsess over typesets and formats, and have pre-vetted language for every clause. You can hear the clipped accents in their bolding and footnotes. Their writing is _actual_ record. Judges read their briefs. Opponents cite sections. Juniors vie for permission to use the same template. They are stylish, they are fast, and they are witty. This could be universal with a smarter assistant in your pocket. To be heard is to be understood! _____ Have you tried steno by jhana?
