The new American Dream is to move out the US. Housing costs are up 40%+ in many cities since 2020 and wages haven't kept pace with any of it. Americans are leaving in record numbers. And the number keeps climbing. And when people leave, they take their tax dollars with them. If this keeps up, our economy will face a huge problem with Social Security and growth.

$75k salary after taxes, insurance, and 401k = roughly $4,800 a month rent $1,650 car + insurance $650 groceries $550 gas + utilities $420 you’re left with $1,530 for literally everything else in life congrats, that’s $51 a day to be “middle class” in 2026

@Mr_john_wayne @jonbrooks And what if markets are flat after inflation for near 20 years like 89-07? When the non recoverable costs of renting are less than owning (rent vs interest/tax/repairs/opportunity cost of DP) more money can go into stocks - which historically outperform RE

sorry to say this but… $200k income is now middle class. a person making $200k is taking home about $10,500/mo after tax. median spending by US family with two kids is $8,600 this leaves $2k for saving, investing and special purchases. middle class.
