A hill I will die on: Pierce Brosnan's James Bond was 10x better than Daniel Craig's. Brosnan wasn't the best Bond (Connery FTW), but he was great in the role. Even with a total dud in Die Another Day, he beats out Craig. And this is coming from a die-hard Bond aficionado.

In 2022, the Yankees paid a combined $29M to Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton and received a combined -0.4 fWAR from them. I don’t love using WAR for relievers, but no matter how you slice it the Yankees paid a lot of money for very little production from those guys that season. At the same time, they started having success with project arms like Clay Holmes/Lucas Luetge /Wandy Peralta and cost controlled players like Loaisiga/Chad Green. For a team that does have a limit to what it will run its payroll to, I think the Yankees decided at that point to stop paying any real money for their bullpen and focus on acquiring pitchers they thought they could fix and supplementing with guys from the minor league system. There is some logic to it, but they’ve overcorrected too far in that direction. It’s a hard strategy to be successful with long term because eventually other teams realize what you’re looking for and decide to try and fix those guys themselves or ask for more in a trade than the player might be worth on paper. It seems like the Yankees hit rate on trading for/acquiring relievers isn’t what it was a few years ago and eventually they could be forced to pay the extreme prices required to get bullpen help at the deadline.

IIRC @GilStudent I once heard from R. Yossi Eisen how a program ran out of potato starch hotdog buns during a BBQ and the staff responsible for ensuring sufficient buns, almost served the guests regular hotdog buns.

Scariest part of the programs that don’t deliver on customer expectations, especially with regard to available food, is that management and staff are always one quick decision away from buying local food, perhaps kosher, but not kosher for Passover.

@rationalyankee Agreed. I don’t see how this pen can be revamped fully this year. It will be the downfall of this team unfortunately bc cash thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.

The bullpen was the one thing I complained all offseason was going to be disaster and we are living it right now. Instead of spending real money on the multitude of arms out there that could have been acquired, the Yankees decided they were smarter than everyone else and tried to pick up project arms for cheap that they thought they could fix. So far, not only are those arms not working out, the premier guys like Bednar and Doval look awful as well. Not sure how that can be fixed during the year. Going to have to look at bringing up some of the guys in the minors soon if this doesn’t change.

I’m not anti-platoon. I think adding a guy like Rosario being on the team makes a ton of sense. But I don’t get: •Why we employ two lefty catchers •Why Goldy was the choice for another bench bat when the only way to play him is benching Rice or Stanton

"Fauda” is coming back : For the first time since October 7, the hit series "Fauda" is returning in a new season - ( season 5 ) . The premiere event is set for May 10, but is subject to security developments. The series is expected to air as early as the middle of next month. According to sources familiar with the details, the season edits are nearing completion. @mako_feed
